Okay, who else came here after Michael McIntyre's book?

Paul really quick and surrealistic this time. Always funny of course. "'Spitting vicar' told to find another way to baptize children" was incredible!

Im digging deeply to watch this. Conrad Black is not well regarded in Canada. He's a fraud with no morals. I can even tolerate watching Boris Johnson without my skin crawling this badly.
One of the funniest. I admire Bob Ainsworth for coming on with all those warnings. A terrific smile that kept him going through challenges to his amour propre.

Late watcher, and unfortunately, this episode is the only episode that is horrible and unbearable to watch due to the milquetoast, elitist frat boy host. Not surprised at all that he is the host of another one of the indeterminably many cookie-cutter quiz shows.

When Black called Ian a banana, what did he mean? I don’t understand the slang.

It's always fascinating to me how Paul, while appearing disinterested, runs the show. Constantly checking audience reaction, subtle (or less than subtle) feedback to the host, keeping the rhythm going. And how he loses it when Ian gets in a zinger. A perfect pair - only really good friends could razz the hell out of each other every week.

I know this is years old but 2 observations 1. Boris had not yet used Cameron Diaz as a hairstylist 2. He was as big an asshole back then as his is now. 😂

.. I don't know who Joan Bakewell is.. but.. I think that from the laughs here people seriously underestimate her humour. .I guess she is a politician so it is a bit of a.. "We don't know what to expect because our PERCEPTION of her is that she is serious so we can't QUITE get on board with her trying to be a bit jovial and goofy".. so.. kind of a "Fish out of water" but more of a.. "It's the onlookers who think of this as a fish out of water". So.. SERIOUSLY.. I don't know if I like her as a person, or a politician (or a journalist if THAT is why she is known, or whatever else she MAY be).. But.. TECHNICALLY.. I actuall find her MORE smirk-worthy than Boris Johnson EVER were on Have I got news for you. I especially LOVE how she gives things that CLEARLY are jokes with a "dead pan" delivery. From a humour standpoint I REALLY love her in this episode.. I don't know her from anywhere else, but. .she is golden here.. and.. People don't laugh as much as I think they seriously should. ... Fair enough humour is personal.. which is also why this IS subjective and a matter of opinion, so I don't tell anyone that they are.. "wrong".. I just say that I FEEL like she deserves a bit more appreciation than she got. (and of course I am giving SOME leeway just because it's obvious she isn't a professional comedian.. but that ALSO means that she doesn't feel like she constantly HAVE to be 'on' so she AVOIDS cheap gags and just trying to say things IN ORDER! to break silence and what not.. she really really present.. the ideas she actually has instead of.... just pushing things just because she feels she HAS to try to make light of EVERYTHING.. The only things that I feel is "forced" is when she was put on the spot, but even then. .she actually.. "made sense".. at least in part.. To SOME extent I think that if she had more experience she could've really done that this episode was EPIC when Ian was trying to "riff" with her.. She didn't "fail" this.. Riff.. or.. banter.. but also. I am FAIRLY sure she could've done better. .and the mere fact that I NOTICED it was about a person who do this regularly trying to get a.. "Rise" out from someone who don't.. and that the matter of experience is WHY it didn't become a shining star in the realm of satire.. IS.. Why I think she seriously.. had a lot of unfulfilled potential.. AS WELL!!.. as actually.. having a light already "as is". .She could do more, but she SERIOUSLY did well)

Sockdologer? Guess you have to an American to appreciate that. At Ford's Theater in Washington D.C in 1865, Abraham Lincoln was watching 'Our American Cousin:. John Wilkes Booth was waiting for the laugh line. "I know enough to turn you inside out, old gal, you sockdologizing old man-trap!" BANG.

I just now got Jon Ricardson's lettuce joke, and I've seen this clip several times. A dialect thing - here in America it's called Romaine lettuce, only learned the 'cos' bit just the other day. Good joke, but then Romaine could work as a Brexit joke...

Bison meat really is remarkably good for you. It's relatively lean, and what fat they have is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids. But that's only when they're not farm-raised. When they're raised like cattle, their meat is hardly different from beef.
