This is a great build. Unfortunately I have never gotten into this theme as it came out during my dark ages when I was about 20. But when I as a kid I would have ate this up. It’s a really cool line.

I feel tricked by the title - was expecting a little cube motor in there :). A wonderful model nonetheless. The color combination of the Aquazone is - in my humble opinion - one of the best. And you have quite the army of Aquanauts! Well done, a nice and positive video. Thank you!
@B1ueFootBirdieДень тому
Love it! Thank you! Going to play with this. Want to run 3 motors, 2 on an MOC freight train and the other an old lego city freight train
@BatteryPoweredBricks20 годин тому
In my more recent Pybricks videos some updates have been added by a member of our discord. I've had 4 locomotives, each with dual motors all controlled from a single remote 😁. The Powered Up system really is something when you factor in third party software / firmware

As a fellow kiwi it was v entertaining watching you struggle with opening a tip top container. Second nature at this point. Cool MoC too!

New sets are so "perfect" with a million tiny plates and tiles. I also think it makes it harder to rebuild your own creations from sets these days. Things are so bespoke. My kids complain of us not having any "regular pieces" from our sets. (Better buy some more lego then...😅)
@BatteryPoweredBricks2 дні тому
I've had that thought too. As a kid I had lots of different sets and a decent selection of pieces that would work together. Things are a lot more specialized nowadays and much smaller pieces, or at least more of them in sets. Like you said, time to buy more Lego 😅. Some of the minecraft sets seems to have a decent selection of "regular" pieces

Aren't you supposed to be working? 😉 For sure an amazing MOC! I picked up the editing trick from TrainerTips (a Pokemon Go channel), I think this is the third time Editing Brian has made an appearance on the channel, which usually means I made a mistake 😅

@jamestaylor2503 дні тому
Thanks for the awesome run through, I literally pulled my version of this apart today to start working on a replacement PCB. Was a bit of a setback to see that the control knob used wipers and a PCB track to control the speed. Wondered if you'd considered replacing the linear regulator with something like the Pololu D24V22F9 / D30V30F9 step down regulator, in lieu of replacing the entire PCB with a switch mode power supply I was thinking that this would allow the output current to be higher than stock whilst not requiring additional cooling (given greater efficiency) 9v out with a min input voltage of 10v (with a 2a output current and input voltage of 12v they are apparently 95% efficient) voltage in and voltage out should direct hookups to the vin and vout on the 317 / 350 with the vout left hanging and the last pin on the new regulator tied directly to ground
@BatteryPoweredBricks2 дні тому
That's definitely an interesting idea, I'll have to look into it. I like to keep them as close to stock as possible just for nostalgia reasons but they are quite inefficient

I can so see the unreleased monorail... the origin of the Aquazone theme.
@BatteryPoweredBricks3 дні тому
I debated on building the Seatron monorail or something similar, by the end of it I want something 4 wide so it will fit with how the track is laid out. More to come in the next update 😁
@DergonQuert4 дні тому
When are you gonna build a Shark train, Brian?
@BatteryPoweredBricks3 дні тому
Oh, one day 😅. Have to finish the Aquanaut monorail first
@rbleisem4 дні тому
Suggest you make it one big winding trench. Why? So you can make a trench fight. Lightyear his XL-15, now that was a fun build.
@BatteryPoweredBricks4 дні тому
At this point I pretty much have the baseplates laid out how I want. I did consider a long winding trench for sure, maybe next time I build with them if I don't have a monorail in the way

For the most part yes

I cant wait to see more of this project!! Those posters, baseplates and monorail pieces are enough to get me excited! Ahh man those old finger arm/hinge pieces take me back. Aquazone was I think just barely before my time, but those were alive and well for alpha team which i remember fondly!

17:50 I use letsbuilditagain for older instructions, the ads don't cover the instructions though sometimes the scans are oriented wrong and I think 1 set they were out of order but most are perfect and easy to use.

Ok I got that same part sent to me wrong as well! Mine were in light gray and I needed 2 of them. Both were wrong! Didn’t realize until a couple weeks later when I went to build the set finally and then couldn’t

@BatteryPoweredBricks6 днів тому
If it's unopened odds are it will work fine. Although you may need an older PC or virtual machine to use the original software. Most of the RCX units I have that are broken just had the batteries left in them for years

i have that same lego thing for 8 years and i have never not even my family open it before
@pastajensen7 днів тому
I had one more comment that does not seem to stick... Regarding the online instructions I use Brickfactory, that is also the site the more known(?) ones find theirs.
@Knokkelman7 днів тому
I'm in the process of selling my old 80s/90s Lego (didn't use it for almost 30 years, need the space, way too much worth for giving it to kids) - and I didn't have that much nostalgia for most of it, until I tested out my 1985 Freight Train (it moved, but not that good because of dust). Wow, what a good present that was, so many good memories with my grandparents (I think my grandpa quite liked that moving train, too). Is this something genetic that makes men at a certain age become obsessed with trains? I mean, we live in an age where there's drones and stuff out there, why do I now dream of putting a little camera on a train that runs through my living room??? Btw. I grilled all the lights when testing whether the train crossing still works - they went brighter and brighter and then off forever, is this some known thing with older parts or did I do something wrong with the voltage?
@BatteryPoweredBricks6 днів тому
What kind of lights? The yellow 2x2 light bricks come in 4.5v and 12v varieties but I know the 4.5v ones will be imprinted with the voltage by the plug. Even if they were 12v ones I think they will go brighter if they are finally burning out
@pastajensen7 днів тому
16:47 I agree with that sentiment.
@BatteryPoweredBricks7 днів тому
I never really noticed until having that comparison a day apart. Maybe it depends on the type of modern set but I do grow tired of 1x1's everywhere 😅

That's a good question, I would reach to to Buwizz and see if they have an answer. Without intimate knowledge of the charging circuit my or anyone else's answer would just be speculation
