Was chinese lick ever released on an unofficial album? If not do you know of any other doobie brothers songs that are basically lost to time? Also besides part of the last song being cut out, was this the whole concert?
@RicksMusic343 дні тому
they never released that track if they recorded it. They released plenty of early years unheard tracks on a compilation in 2000 called "Long Train Runnin' 1970-2000" but that was not one of them.

This live concert was broadcast on December 31, 1982 as a music program on NHK (Japan National Broadcasting) called "Young Music Show". This program was an irregular program introducing live shows of foreign artists. New Year's Eve 1982. Most of the Japanese people watched this show coz the New Year's holiday. I was a 16-year-old high school student. H&O were at the height of their popularity and I could not get tickets for this show. However, my family and I watched the broadcast together at home. At that time, their hit songs were very popular in Japan and well known not only to the younger generation like me, a high school student, and my sister, a university student, but also to our parents' generation. "How can H&O be so good live? So much better than a studio recording!" This was my first honest impression. We had always known H&O as a band that wrote high quality hit songs in the studio. So, I remember being truly surprised by the first song "Did it in a minute" at the start of this show. Our family was thrilled. My parents are already dead. This Live brings back fond family memories. Thanks for uploading !

I find it wild that in early’86 , touring the U.S., where they’re relatively unknown, how few songs they played from the World Machine album. Just 3! Although, the U.S. version did also have new mixes of “The Chant” & “Hot Water” so I guess that makes 5.

What a memory. I saw this show with a buddy of mine the night we drove up to Sturgeon Falls Ontario for a fishing trip. Lost a hubcap on the way. Broke down just north of Toronto and spent the afternoon wandering around a town called Kettleby waiting for my sisters to drive down from North Bay to take us up to camp. Got stopped by the OPP on the way up. They were pointing their shotguns at our gas tank in the trunk. They were looking for an escapee who turned himself in later that week because the mosquitos and black flies in the woods where he was hiding out. I'd do it again in a minute if I could. Thanks for posting this.

Incredible work on your part. It really helps bring out Billy Joel's genius and mastery of music. The man is perfectly on pitch and doesn't even look like he's working. And so prolific. There's no one like Billy.

Kinda strange they didn't release the video for the "new" songs as well. I still can't believe Where's the Orchestra? wasn't played. Man they sound incredible though, I'm glad we have a full pristine soundboard!

Kenny also toured following his next album "Back To Avalon". Unfortunately, no live recording from that tour has ever surfaced, not even a mediocre audience recording to know the set list. Why didn't KBFH or Westwood One record him?
@RicksMusic349 днів тому
I know right?! So odd. He was super popular from Danger Zone and Playing with the Boys as well.
