"i base my personality on relics of the past and hating on the new thing so i hate pickleball" is the kind of average reaction

I still somehow have never played or watched Pickleball, so I still don't understand it. I also don't really watch tennis either though, so I guess it's no surprise.

I don’t have an issue because I don’t watch (anymore).. there are nicer ways to spend some free time than this, you know.

I just started playing tennis. I was at Target today and saw all the pickleball paddles and balls (some kind of promotion). I’ve never seen it before. Maybe I might try it out.

In the scene of nadal winning the Roger’s cup. Why was his opponent standing in the middle of the baseline to return his serve on championship point.
@user-dh2tk8fk8e2 дні тому
“You walk up onto center court” you wonder why you’re there considering you’re probably ranked world number 200. You see your opponent and understand

I’ve been watching for a long time professional tennis’ it was so obvious to me for so long, almost every match is somewhat fixed

coaching is just advice. At the end the players decide for themselves.

Ironically I think the take that the game being played almost entirely from the back of the court would be boring kinda turned out to be true. I do think serve and volley play is overall less favored and the long ralleys can get a little stale. Just my opinion in terms of what i would like to watch tho

I remember playing pickleball in high school gym between '07 and '09 in NY. When it exploded in 2022 I was shocked.

Its just hitting a ball with a paddle either way. Outsiders cant tell the difference. Just hit the stupid ball.

Coria absolutely choked and played a little ‘possum with the cramping too. He had two match points. He choked, so get over it. Couldn’t stand him and delighted when Gaudio won.

Its crazy how tennis players are being so aggressive about pickle ball😅 like bro grow up people are allowed to enjoy things

Lets remember something worse than coaching: even Federer asked his mother to not go to the matches because of her loud way to root or him and complain. I am so relieved that this rule was ditched so we can concentrate in tennis at last. In bridge championships the illegal communication was blocked by using a curtain between pairs of players, if ATP and WTA didn't really wanted coaching it was just put the coaches inside a booth). And sorry but sport is made of inequality: nobody goes to see the 300th rank player (except their relatives and compatriots in case there are few players in the country): they go to see Djokovic. Those top tier players are what pay the bills of tennis. And sometimes we see surprises coming from nowhere, each time more newcomers shining. So let's cut the inequality bullshit: what do we want? All matches end on a tie like tic-tac-toe? This is why tic-tac-toe is boring because anyone can master it. That is why we have sponsors, everybody want to be the sponsor of the next Nadal. The change of rules that I didn't like was the 30 seconds time for serving it was a ritual that created a beautiful tension ... now we have a lot of serving time violations that take time too.

Your story is similar to that of the major in the tv program. If you want the contestants 100% isolated put them in a box with walls where they can’t hear nor see the audience. What do you think happens when the fans clap and cheer to encourage their favorite, isn’t that a form of coaching? How many times Djokovic won despite being the non favorite? Or have many slams won Tsitsipas despite his dad? Your approach is too simplistic. You think that Dundee fought Ali’s or Leonard’s fights? Coaching should be allowed in tennis

I mean... it's a sport... all sports are kind of garbage for the most part and just ritualistic, but pickleball is just plain fun. I think sports are pretty lame and the athletes are WAY overpaid.

Even though its easy to see how the hype can be very negative when things don't work out you can see why families of young tennis prospects do it and accept the offers ,they are probably almost totally broke just getting them this far.

couldn't you create a similar effect today without double stringing simply using different types of strings and varying the tension on different string holes?

Grunting should be banned in tennis. Legends like Graf, Sampras, Borg, Federer never grunted. That’s how tennis should be played.

@andrejchalas67997 днів тому
We want to stop any gimmicks that would make tennis a funny game. Please Do it now as well. With all that stuff like playing on time or from 30-30 score just to give audience better experience, now its not about athletes but about fans. All sports are going a big turnaround for money and everything is oriented only towards average Joes behind television. Allowed coaching is practicaly same thing. Its not about player anymore, on junior tournaments it now Dad againist Dad: " Play high balls", "Hey he plays high balls, go inside the court to attack it early", "He is attacking early, but his backhand is bad, play there" They can pick up racket themselves and play instead of players and it would make more sense than this
@masterchiefer257 днів тому

Pickeball was huge in my high school back in 2005-2008. We had fake top 25 rankings every week. Even the girls who just wanted to take it easy in gym, even a lot of them got into pickleball. Was a lot of fun.
@lillyclarity96997 днів тому
bro, if you cannot handle a sudden impulse noise without freaking tf out, you are literally less capable than a 12 year old who likes jumpscare kiddie horror games. if you are an adult who is playing a professional sport (as a serious, mature adult, again.) and you cannot handle loud vocalizations that last less than 2 seconds, I honestly dunno how you're going to expect to be lauded for being a powerful and strong athlete. I'm sorry but YEARG didn't kill anyone when the Vikings yelled it, I don't think it'll hurt anyone 1200 years later, especially not professional athletes.
@lillyclarity96997 днів тому
idk this whole debate seems hilariously childish to me. dude if that's how some people play the sport, just fucking deal with it. pretending like making vocalizations somehow can give you an advantage by "distracting" your opponent is an idiot. to be fair, some of those, uhm, "grunts?" did sound really odd. I'm not sure why you would "grunt" like "WOOOWOOOWOOOWOOWOOO" and then get upset when the crowd mocks you. Of course the crowd is going to mock that, who tf grunts like a fucking ambulance siren. i'm a pretty nice person who doesn't really find much point in bullying other people who struggle at things that I find easy, but honestly, if I heard someone go "wooowooowooowooowoo" every time they threw or kicked a ball, and then insisted it was involuntary....yeah, I'd probably make fun of them too. That's actually kind of funny. wooowoowooowooowoo
