I was hoping you would discuss how to alter the depth-of-field by changing the plane-of-focus by using a lens with a tilt feature.

Wow, I'm so surprised those sharks didn't eat you whole once. Don't you guys get scared if wild animals (or in this case wild sea creatures) swallow and eat you whole?? Or do you think sharks get used to humans swimming near them all the time??
@ChrisBrayPhotography8 днів тому
These are whale sharks, they are filter feeders and like whales, eat tiny shrimp etc, they don't even have teeth, absolutely harmless and not predators at all. Only risk to me would be if I was silly enough to get hit by a fin or something, or some other actual shark came along.

I'm surprised the Cheetah didn't attack you guys. Don't Cheetahs instantly eat people once they see them in site??
@ChrisBrayPhotography8 днів тому
haha not at all. I would be more worried if it was a leopard for sure, leopards sometimes kill people, but not cheetah.

hi can u please tell me how to stop the shutter noise when shooting a video in aperture mod? It destroys the video.
@ChrisBrayPhotography8 днів тому
if your camera has a physical shutter there will be some noise for that if you are taking photos at the same time as video. If you're after good video audio, I would not take photos while also filming. Some cameras can take photos without using a physical shutter and can then do it silently, you'd have to check your settings for sounds.

Came here after knowing the story of homeless Indian girl how you supported her education.
@green856w21 день тому
Use back-button focus, then use then 'focus point' in the view finder to point at the area you want to expose for. As you hold the camera on that exposure point, press the shutter button halfway down, hold it there and recompose your shot, followed by then continue the shutter button press to take your photo.

I have been in the “photo World” for the last appx. 65 years so I am able to control (most of) this. But I really like the way you explain all the technical possibilities with cameras/lenses. However, talking about f-stops - big numbers, small number - and what can be obtained by changing these you never hear any explain that it can come at a price. The optical quality in lenses - even pro lenses - is not the same throughout the f-stops. In i.e. portraits you will blur the backdrop by using i.e. F2,8 but you will also get a less sharp portrait compared to if you used F8. I normally count on the 2 lowest, and the 2 highest F-numbers to have less optical quality. The F- Numbers in between are normally OK. The lack of quality in the actual portrait can of course be “fixed” in post editing,
@ChrisBrayPhotography8 днів тому
I do actually explain that using largest f# (smallest hole) does bring the downside of diffraction quality loss, as you say. I point out in the video that I try to avoid using the absolute largest f# for this reason (but sometimes it's still useful). But I don't actually think the same is true of the smallest f/# (largest hole), the DoF will be very small in some situations so much of the face might be less sharp but just because it's slightly out of DoF, not because the lens quality / optical clarity. There is no diffraction issues going on at small f/#s, to my understanding.

Chris, when I've my Canon T3 in Manual, Auto ISO, and I highlight the light meter, depress and hold the AV button and rotate the main dial, I get bracketing, not exposure compensation. Why would that be, and is there a solution? Many thanks!
@ChrisBrayPhotography8 днів тому
Not exactly sure on that model, what happens if you just scroll main dial, without holding AV button?
@usernamemykel8 днів тому
@@ChrisBrayPhotography Chris, Canon provided the answer, saying that the enty-level T-3 doesn't have the exposure compensation feature. Glad that i also have a 7D Mark II!

This is such an amazing course! As a beginner, I've already done like 3 of these free youtube courses and still wasn't satisfied with my images. After doing this one, I realised what was happening... Everyone was teaching the details of using a camera, but nobody was teaching how to actually take good photos and the principles of good photography. I'm gonna take lots of notes and test, practice these principles the next time I'm going out. So glad I clicked on this video!

Great video. I like to think of ISO like volume. Just like in an amplifier, turn the volume(amplification) up and the background noise gets louder as well. On a high def, delicate track it can be intrusive, on powerful and full music, you barely notice.
