Perfecto!!!! Lovely vid❤quick tip for an easy compost bucket that will keep rodents away: get a 5 gall bucket, drill about a dozen 1/4 inch holes around the bottom for drainage, drill about a dozen 1/2 inch holes in the top for rain (or occasional intentional watering, I keep the full ones by the garden), use a layer of roughage like sandy raked leaves or straw …add table scraps for compost and occasional layer of leaves(I just scoop up whatever is close, ~here in Wisco) once the bucket is full start another. Next year (or two) open lid and ‘voila ~garden gold!’ Beautiful black soil. No turning large mounds of compost, and best yet, keeping critters out. We used to do this in my child care and while it wasn’t eye popping for the preschool kiddos the tween age student interns that often scraped the daily compost in the buckets were always genuinely impressed when we opened ‘an aged’ bucket! Have so much fun❤

We've been away a while and excited to see what's new. We totally get what you're talking about with time with our best friends 🐕. I'm older and our friends have been links in the chain of our lives ❤. I do tend to drift into sadness about it on overnight shifts alone...but only for a bit.

May I suggest food, just food. No powdered food. Man cannot improve on what Mother Nature provides to her children. Sorry humans are not equipped to do this. Way more understanding/ knowing required

Grief is a perspective. When you see that this is an experience, a chapter in your journey to gain knowledge, awareness of you, of your being, of other beings, to expand conscious awareness that has no end then grief can be viewed from a different perspective than normal. Your accepting of each change as a new beginning that has no end. All through life ways part. So you, your energy can find it's way. All who are with you are always with you even though in their journey, the outer covering we identify as a body is no longer needed, they are there. All living is alike in this way. It is similar to your best friend being in Thai land and you're in South Africa. Except you speak through the heart. Conscious awareness is useful not vocals.

I would block trolls if you tube has that feature. If they don't have that feature, maybe for me I wouldn't read the comments. There are a lot of celebrities that don't get into the gossip or comments written about them. Always remember, this is YOUR channel, do what you desire. I love just watching. For everyone else, maybe we need to let trolls know what we think of them!

I have long thought that having a van to live out of on the road and a home base(off grid or on depending on your needs and tastes) to come back to is the best of both worlds. Travel in the van, regroup and rejuvenate at home. All the best in your new homesteading endeavors. I am anxious to see what you do with the place.

Hunni. You’re with Akela every waking moment. We can see the bond you speak of. No matter how long you have a dog it’s never long enough 🐾🐾🐾. My Rory survived cancer at age 11 - a tumour removal but said he’d not see his 12th birthday. …. he lived to be 18 and 1/2 years old. Couldn’t hear and could only see shadows, I carried him on stairs, on walks when he tired, and he learned on his own to bark when he woke up for me to come get him down from my bed and if he got himself into a corner and didn’t find his way out- he’d bark for me. I took him for a check up having the ailments of old timers and 💔😪 the cancer was back. A tumour formed behind one eye and was in his sinuses 😪😪 I had NO idea , he didn’t act any different except for an arched back WHICH I thought was age. I had to make the decision right there that I swore I’d never do to one of my pets but he was in pain. Giving pain meds was the only option but within a month he’d die an excruciating painful death. 💔. I couldn’t do that to him. He’d be up on the back of the couch watching at the time he knew I’d be done work, even mowing the grass he’d be beside me back and forth most times covered in grass and his job, was to watch the woodpile for mice while I threw it in. He did his job well 😊. Chest out, tail curled and up and both ears perked and WATCHED that wood pile for movement 🥲. I MISS him every minute, when my kids heard cancer they thought maybe I should get a puppy then, a comfort when it happened- but I said no - THEN they surprised me with my Sorcha Claire, a Siberian husky … he was Pomeranian and terroir, and SHE picked up things he did ♥️ Chews her toenails,’sings’to songs by Cheryl Crowe 😄 even lays by his grave ( less now 2 years later ) but my point to this rave is it’s hard but you’ll survive - and when you might think you’re not strong enough, remember you got her KNOWING you’d outlive her <- THAT is strength right there. She’s a happy girl and she’s healthy. You’ll have her a long while yet 🙏. Sorcha is a camper girl and we live pretty much in the woods . She gets free runs all the time having a good recall. Lays by the garden while I’m planting but steals the peas when they’re edible. Not just the pea pod, but the entire plant 😄. I can’t send a picture but she’s exactly size and shape of Akela, tan white with black and two beautiful blue eyes. My sons a breeder, she had a few litters, was fixed last year and enjoying retirement now ♥️

I lost my sweet cat Miyuki a month ago and I miss her dearly. She was not my pet, but my best friend and companion, and although I knew that bond could not last forever because she was already an older cat when I adopted her, I am grieving her as I would any other close family member, because to me she was family. I am happy to say that I was able to enjoy her fully and and I am sure this pain will pass. But I'm still dealing with this hurt. 😢 Your videos give me so much comfort, thank you Linnea ❤️ I wish you and Akela many years of health and love.

For some reason when the video started I really got emotional. I have four dogs and have lost four in my younger life. Dogs are such beautiful creatures. Half of them have always been rescue and then the other were specifically picked fro breed. Rescues do have amazing gratitude and love for being saved from a shelter. I only have two acres in the Colorado mountains, but it feels like so much more with the vistas. Loved this video

Just had my morning coffee and watched this, I keep asking myself why am I waiting to retire & buy a van? I have a five year plan, I am 58, & I feel like my life is just going by. I have a 16 year old who needs to finish high school. I think my five year plan has turned into a 2 year plan. I so enjoy your videos and your love of living your best life! I love watching you and your mom, I bet she is excited about the land you bought. Thank you for being you. You give this woman hope.

I'm with you on the short driving days! I take frequent driving trips up and down the east coast from Florida to Virginia and back again. I used to be able to do it in one shot...about 16 hours! Now, I'm lucky if I get 4-6 hours driving. I like the short driving days because it gives me time to decompress in between and be fresh to go again the next day.

I know some people mentioned the handling of the wildlife...as a previous fisheries biologist and wildlife technician there is a need to handle wildlife to be able to take metrics and check the health of the specimen and ensure the continuation of those rare or unknown species. I would love to send my daughter out on an adventure of this caliper...I just don't think her inability to deal with change or strangers would make it enjoyable. One thing I do with her is go around to areas here in Idaho showing her the flora and fauna of our different biomes. My biggest teacher has been nature and as I always say, 'grab a field guide book and just start looking'. Beautiful video Linnea!

Yes so very true, we enjoy what we have now, the older we get we forget the things that we went through earlier in our lives, when my mother died I was 50, that was 22 years ago , and everything I have gone through , when we are younger, we don’t think about getting older, but now It is much different for me, I won’t go on about everything I have gone through, that’s why I love watching you in your videos, you and Akela and Chris and his dog Kobuk 👍

After having lived now for over 62 years (all USA based) I want to say to those people that may stumble across this comment is: You may never be able to do "van life", but don't let that stop you from thinking outside the box and find that niche life you can think of. Sell a home, buy a small inexpensive Mobile home or rent a small place to give yourself some flexibility to travel even if in your own metro area. Be a day only traveler or weekends only, start your own YT channel. If all of this is not doable, then maybe write stories or create imaginary Travels and see if you can get them published. Think and now do.
