This sounds reminds of the relationship i once had with a troubled alcoholic who tried to find a drink that i would like so we could drink together, but i have never cared for alcohol. Ultimately i begged my partner to stop , but that didnt happen n their life dissolved into many problems and the relationship ended. So sad how art can imitate life.

Actually those songs are incredibly well composed. Just look at all those tiny details. Sure, it's modern music, but I see no reason why Mancini would have to hide behind classical composers. E.g. when I hear the slightly disharmonic Peter Gunn Theme, I immediately have to think of "Boléro" by Maurice Ravel (especially near the end) and Baby Elephant Walk could as well have been from a Mozart opera if he had lived in our period. BTW, if you are looking for a modern take on the Pink Panther theme, search for "neo The Pink Panther Theme"
