How was it (ceded) to the United States 🤔
@NYKPreppingMediaNetwork
@NYKPreppingMediaNetwork 5 днів тому
The land that became part of the "Territory northwest of the River Ohio" was ceded to the United States through a series of treaties and agreements with Native American tribes and through negotiations with the original states that claimed ownership of the territory. These states, including Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York, relinquished their claims to the land in favor of federal control and settlement. This process of cession allowed the United States government to establish territorial governance and eventually admit new states into the Union, including Indiana.

#5 shows a Ferro Rod NOT a Fire Piston, a Fire Piston uses compressed air to ignite Char Cloth. But, a Fire Piston would work as well. Chips(aka Crisps in UK) doesn't matter about brand. Hand Sanitizer only works because of the Alcohol it contains. Vapo-Rub is Petroleum Jelly with Camphor added. Steel Wool & battery/Gum Wrapper & Battery (will only work with gum that has a FOIL wrapper), so any foil/thin wire(thinner is better) will work. They forgot to mention Friction Methods (such as Bow-drill/Hand-drill, etc.) Condom & Water , clear plastic & water, Prescription glasses, clear glass (cup, bottle/jar, etc.) & water act as Fresnel/Magnifying Lens. The Coffee/Chocolate can method can be done with any can or aluminum foil or Mylar (bag/blanket/tent) by making it concaved (like a bowl/satellite dish) to concentrate the suns rays at a certain point. And there are plenty of other methods as well that weren't listed here. Methods such as Flint & Steel or striking 2 rocks together (preferably 1 being Flint or Pyrite & another...think primitive). I am an Extreme Wilderness Survivalist that has studied ancient methods for fire, shelter, water purification, tool making and hunting("Naked & Afraid" would have been an easy win for me in the conditions they were always set in).

Good list of items to have. It's pretty much the same as my list the only thing I'm missing are some pieces of clothing with wool or pure synthetics. I have too much cotton stuff. My kit is not designed to bug out into the wilderness like many people. Instead I want to get to a different part of the country within the population to a new location where things are better than where I am. Basically it's a migration kit. Next month I will change into a warmer weather kit with just a few changes after winter is over. And looking out the window it seems like winter is over. I'm in Canada and there's no snow just grass on the front lawn.

Some good things mentioned, but there are definitely some things that should be part of a bugout bag, that isn't mentioned: 1. Bear Spray = Its one of the only things that will get rid of a charging grizzly bear and most other critters, including humans, don't like it much either. It is often legal to have out in the bush, but its iffy in town, as some countries consider it a concealed weapon. 2. Whetstone = A useful device for keeping your sharp objects, remain sharp. 3. A book on edible plants and fungi = Very useful when you run low on food. 4. Filters = If you have a gas mask or respirator, you'll need replacement filters. They don't last forever. Especially in conditions where there is a lot of ash or smoke in the air. 5. Portable Vacuum Cleaner = You'll need one to clean off your car filters. If you are in an ash or smoke filled area, your car filter will get clogged in no time. Having a way to remove it and/or a replacement filter is essential to keep your car driving. 6. Portable Solar Panel = Great when combined with a portable battery supply, to recharge the battery supply. 7. Emergency Blanket = Usually you might find them in First Aids, but if you don't, its great for staying warm. 8. Wool Socks = They are amazing at keeping feet warm. Especially important if your boots get wet and you need to warm up your feet fast. 9. Instant Coffee = The caffeine can help with mental boost, improved blood flow, and to help with the flavor of boiled water. Remember, boiling kills the bacteria and viruses, does nothing about the taste. Incidentally, its also a main reason why most MREs have some in them. 10. Trail Mix = Yes having 3 days of ready to eat food is important, but that stuff tends to require some level of preparation and heating. Trail mix is filling, nutritous, filled with fats and proteins, and calories. And can be good to munch on while travelling or waiting for the rest of the food to cook. 11. Multivitamins = Depending on your food supplies and what you can catch, you'll still want to maintain your vitamin levels. You'll get sick and miserable fast, if you suffer a vitamin deficiency. 12. Basic Medicine = Tylenol and Advil (or get knockoff brands) are essential for pain relief, reducing swelling, and helping with headaches. First aid kits may not have them. 13. Having two cooking devices = One for boiling water and one for cooking in. Otherwise it creates a pretty bad bottleneck, wherein you are waiting for the water to boil, before you can cook something else. And in survival situations, the less time it takes to cook food, the less time you wait and the more time you have to collect firewood. 14. Waterproof, Long Matches = Yes, you should know how to use a standard match or lighter, to light a fire, with kindling, and proper fire design. However, there are times when it is wet or windy, and you desperately need a fire, and these might save your bacon. 15. Shovel = The best fire you can make is an underground fire. Lots of survivalists suggest it as it provides great heat, minimal smoke or light, great in windy/wet conditions, and burns fuel slowly. However, you often need small shovel or trowel to do it. 16. A bottle of whiskey (or whatever your preference is) = Even ignoring drinking it, you can use it to disinfect wounds or soak cloth in it to make a torch or use it as a firestarter. 17. A separate knapsack = If you are carrying found around in the bush, you'll want to put all your found into a separate knapsack, then use rope or such to hoist it high up in the air, so that only the most determined animal will get it. Having lots of food/water only helps you if animals don't get to it first. 18. Flare Gun = Useful for signaling for help, chasing off predators, and for starting a fire in really bad conditions. 19. Herbs/Spices = Good for flavoring food/water, but also often are packed with vitamins and minerals and great for fighting off infections. Things like Thyme, Parsley, Onion/Garlic/Ginger Powder, etc... They usually don't take up much space either. 20. Tums = Or offbrand stuff. Life is quite miserable when you have indigestion or acid reflux. Also you tend to use up more water when you have them, so the faster you can end their symptoms, the better overall you'll be. ===== However, the most important aspect of a bugout bag, you need to consider is weight. If you lack the strength to haul your entire bugout bag around, except for short distances, you'll be in trouble in a lot of times. So keep in mind that when choosing your items.

Yes, a stockpile of food & non-edibles is a start…but, also figure out how to garden. It’s a heck of a lot harder than you might think. I’ve tried for years to grow food to sustain my husband and myself. Other than tomatoes, I really suck at it. Do you even realize how much you’d have to grow for only two people? It’s a heck of a lot! I’m dehydrating the frozen veggies we get at our food pantry. The underside of my king bed is nothing but vacuum sealed jars of my dehydrated veggies and fruits. Now I’m moving on to the underside of other beds in my house. Hopefully my dehydrated stuff will last long enough for me to get the hang of growing my own vegetables. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️👩‍🌾

Successful gardening begins with good ammended soil. But different veggies need different nutrients. I grow tomato, peppers, lettuce, beets, green onion, shallots, cucumbers. The only one that is more difficult are the bell peppers. They will flower abundantly if you sprinkle Epsom salt around their f Root bases other week once you see the first flower bloom. So figure out what exactly you want to grow and fine out what nutrients they like.
