I absolutly LOVE how despite being a private organization looking for profit, the Spacing Guild representatives look more like members of a religion. It helps creating the atmosphere of something epic and at the same time makes perfect sense. Because the Guild has existed for thousands of years through several worlds. Therefore, despite being basically Amazon, they have a culture older and bigger than Christianity. So of course their employees look like futuristic priests. I dont know whats the story behind them, but Im sure that if they wear robes and staffs, this cant possibly be "just a job" for them.
