For the love of God, don’t forget to replace the water pump and thermostat. Nothing is more dangerous to a Chrysler V6 with 150,000 miles then the original water pump and thermostat. Additionally, make sure you use the Chrysler spec, orange juice, antifreeze, or grape juice antifreeze, whatever it came with from the factory

I really hate to be this guy, but those camshafts shouldn’t be re-used. The magnetic tone rings on these engines are extremely sensitive, and just laying them down on metal can mess with the magnet, and it will throw camshaft intermittent codes. I did this same job on a Pacifica and laid the cams on a metal surface, and had camshaft intermittent codes. It’ll also send it into limp mode. I really hope you see this because the same thing happened to me and almost no one knows that this can happen, and I don’t want you to go through all of this work and it throws these codes. But aside from that, it’s really awesome y’all are doing this. Sometimes you need to lend a helping hand and that’s really awesome

Online Mechanic Tips is one channel by someone who doesn't do much else besides Mopar. And yes, when the rockers crap out, they take out the cam. If a loose rocker is caught early enough, it's possible to do the cam tilt truck so the timing cover and chains don't need to be removed. The real moral of the store here is to pull over and shut off the engine if you approach the red zone on the temperature gauge. Paying for tow to a shop sucks, but thinking you can make it a couple miles more can be a much more expensive mistake.

I had really good luck with this engine by not getting one.

Jatco makes 1 hell of an automatic (aside from TCM being smoked by failed coolers in rad) the CVTs aren't repairable. Rebuild parts werent available in 2016 when i did that work for cottman.

I have an 2010 Toyota 4 Runner 165,000 miles, burns no oil drives like new a great work truck as well, why buy the European and USA junk ?

Thank you for this, and for your efforts in making it. I wonder whether the car was driven through a flooded road? That is an increasing problem here in the UK. I have one suggestion which may help you if you ever have the same problem: tree surgeons use tough plastic wedges. If things go wrong, the saw blades are not damaged.

If the hose failed due to something like a piece of road debris kicking-up into the (hose), that would not fall under the manufacturer's responsibility. Would 'car insurance' cover something like that? I would think so if you could show the hose was damaged by 'something' which caused the failure.

Head Gasket from the dealer for that engine is (or was) $6.80

I have replaced a bunch ofcams on those. Under each cam on the timing chain side of engine is a plug. It has 13mm head. Those plugs have been loose on every engine I have worked on. They bleed oil pressure back to crankcase and its IMHO one of the reasons the rockers fail.

Luckily in my country insurance gives engine and transmission coverage for company car with premium plan
