This happens in almost every programming language that uses floating point. Historically, the only language that didn't was COBOL, which used binary coded decimals for decimal point maths. This is why banks and finance companies used it. Nowdays, most languages have some decimal library that supports BCDs, so if you are writing financial software, use it!

JS is the most competitive language in the world. For the one trying to write a dumber language would need hundred years worth of experience.

The numbers to the right of the decimal point are represented with a value halving with each move right. To make 0.75 you add 0.5 and 0.25. You can't make 0.3 by adding together any combination of halved values from 1, and so the system approximates.
