I plan to get a NAS at some point and use ethernet to connect it to my Wi-Fi mesh router. And use Wi-Fi to the NAS to do a daily backup of my main laptop. Especially since they have been doing away with a 2nd hard drive in laptops as I'd use that to make backups to.

It's getting more important for people to collectively start saving as much information as possible, in bulk, than ever before. I very recently just had a look at my UKposts playlists and rediscovered one I made during Covid times called "important historical context" which would have been filled with videos of certain political developments. ALL of the videos in that playlist were removed from UKposts. All of them. The scary thing is, while we now have the "easiest" way to access information, the ministry of truth also now has the easiest way to curate and re-write history.

I have a large SSD based (to make it quiet) media NAS/HTPC inside a large Silverstone Grandia case plus an external nas with larger HDDs for downloading and storing Music, Series and Movies, because streaming subscription services suck. I'm my own streaming service. My "service" also has no region locked content. Especially when since i'm binational (German-Lithuanian) which lives with people from other nations (wife and sister are buryat/mongolian, her sisters partner korean). I know there is VPN, but i don't want a subscription on top of a subscription. I did a test once with spotify and random tracks were often delisted or removed from playlists i made. Not worth the hassle and money. No one can steal the files from my drives. They are there to stay.
