Alright I’m gonna say it: Jerry Rice was great for his era. But if you take Jerry Rice and put him in today’s game he’s probably not a top 10 receiver in the league. He wasn’t playing in modern offenses against modern defenses with the speed and talent of today’s corners. He ran a 4.7 40 yard dash time. If he did that today as a receiver he might not even get drafted. His route tree literally consisted of 9 routes and he had 2 hall of fame quarterbacks throwing to him. He didn’t really do any double moves or great route running. He had great hands and got open by outrunning corners with 4.9 speed.

We try to evaluate them now which can't be accurate by any means. Every player deserves to be LOVED NOW because this is the ONLY time for some players to enjoy our love.
