If John Coltrane had been living longer, he may have joined Aum Shinrikyou. For the word of OM is equal to the word of OUM. And the words of them mean the truth of whole world, whole universe. At that time John Coltrane must have been interested in truth of universe.

I listened to this every day when I was in high school, 1970… ‘til Live/Evil came out! 😅

I miss these courageous musicians who weren’t afraid to get out of “the pocket” and play free… even when they’re keeping the groove. Separation of Jazz and Motown. Both are great, but keep the wall up. This wasn’t commercial at all, and people LOVED it. I was there in the thick of it, and the need for the Almighty $ killed it. Keith and Jack never sold out.

In the late Sixties Ornette and even Cecil Taylor were guest at our dinner table in Palo Alto on many occasions. They both loved my Mon’s spaghetti. And other times I got to hang with Ornette at Elu’s Basque Restaurant in North Beach. Them were the daze
Once upon a time, human beings actually did this in front of an audience of other human beings. Amazing.

I own a factory sealed copy of this ultra rare release by dutch CBS, which was stopped in production due to licence issues with Columbia US. Side B includes previously unreleased studio outtakes, which much later were included in Complete Sessions releases.

LaFaro is a great accompanist, but his solos are just a bunch of notes.
I remember the first time I heard John Coltrane, it was a special day. I've been playing the saxophone for almost 40 years now.❤

What a line up! And I love the looser, less produced sound! As much as I've listened to Miles over the years, this is new to me! Thank you for sharing!!!

I am a huge fan of Miles Davis. I'm still listening to more. I didn't realize how awesome and creative he was. He created jazz fusion. Bad Man.
