I listened to this every day when I was in high school, 1970… ‘til Live/Evil came out! 😅

I miss these courageous musicians who weren’t afraid to get out of “the pocket” and play free… even when they’re keeping the groove. Separation of Jazz and Motown. Both are great, but keep the wall up. This wasn’t commercial at all, and people LOVED it. I was there in the thick of it, and the need for the Almighty $ killed it. Keith and Jack never sold out.

In the late Sixties Ornette and even Cecil Taylor were guest at our dinner table in Palo Alto on many occasions. They both loved my Mon’s spaghetti. And other times I got to hang with Ornette at Elu’s Basque Restaurant in North Beach. Them were the daze
