This project is using city resources to meet a need in such an ineffectual way, it's shameful! Panza/Quixote Villages manipulated our community's sense of patriotism to secure land for a project that they hadn't secured adequate funding for and are woefully unprepared to complete and operate. They promised the village's operating funding was self-sustaining via the occupant's benefits. They assured our low income/minimum resources community that there was 'no price tag' attached beyond the need for land! They explained away questions/concerns over not building anapartment building by assuring us that Veterans 'do not want' shared walls and that these tiny sheds would meet the needs of an otherwise underserved homeless vet population by providing houses that were individually occupied. They explained that the tiny house model with no shared walls was BETTER for their mental health. There was NO miscommunication. This is what Quixote Village Personnel and Panza Board members told us on numerous occasions, including Jaycie herself!!!! This organization has no idea what it's doing. Shelton Officials and ultimately our Community has been manipulated into this experiment in nonprofit shenanigans with a warm and fuzzy label, Housing Homeless Vets. This project will not and does not serve the overwhelming majority of homeless individuals living IN the CITY OF SHELTON! Ground should not be broken until they can show proof of sustainable funding for the long term!Honestly, the whole project needs to be scrapped for one that ACTUALLY serves the homeless population IN our city!!
