Dualusm: Why should the fixed atoms in the fixed wire armature in the electric motor generate the external magnetic field that runs the motor? A lot of things have dualistic properties. So why are brains any different?
@esotericrealms
@esotericrealms Місяць тому
The interaction between fixed atoms in the wire armature of an electric motor and the generation of an external magnetic field is based on the principles of electromagnetism. When an electric current flows through the wire, it creates a magnetic field due to the movement of charged particles. This magnetic field interacts with other magnetic fields, such as those produced by permanent magnets, resulting in the motor's operation. Regarding the topic of dualism and the properties of the brain, it's important to note that the concept of dualism in the context of consciousness refers to the philosophical idea that the mind and body are separate entities. However, the scientific understanding of consciousness leans towards a more monistic perspective, where consciousness arises from the physical processes of the brain. While it's true that many phenomena exhibit dualistic properties, such as wave-particle duality in quantum physics, it is important to approach the study of consciousness within the framework of scientific inquiry. Neuroscience and cognitive science focus on understanding how the brain gives rise to subjective experiences and consciousness, emphasizing the interconnectedness of brain functions and mental processes. Exploring the relationship between the physical brain and subjective experience is a complex field, and ongoing research aims to unravel its intricacies. By studying the brain's neural activity, patterns, and networks, scientists seek to gain insights into the mechanisms underlying consciousness. It's essential to approach the study of consciousness with an open and inquisitive mindset, allowing scientific inquiry to shed light on the fascinating nature of our subjective experiences and the intricate workings of the brain.

If you were the electric motor and the electric field was your mind, no reason why you could make the same arguments for either dualism or monism.
@esotericrealms
@esotericrealms Місяць тому
@@nyworker The analogy between an electric motor and the mind offers an interesting exploration of dualism and monism. From a dualistic perspective, the mind is seen as a separate entity, akin to the fixed atoms generating an external magnetic field. This suggests that the mind exists independently of the brain. On the other hand, from a monistic viewpoint, the mind emerges from the brain's physical processes, similar to the magnetic field arising from atom interaction. Consciousness remains a complex and incompletely understood phenomenon that requires interdisciplinary research. While different perspectives exist, the scientific consensus tends toward a monistic understanding, emphasizing the brain's role in consciousness.

@@esotericrealms Very much in agreement that our minds are inside our brains and skulls. However science has proven action at a distance which Newton first proposed and was laughed at in the 17th Century followed by EM by Maxwell in the 19th. The ability of brains and minds to extend is not outside of science. True we cherish our individuality but we are also social creatures and there are types of social behavior that are very interesting. Monism and dualism are just positions for philosophical discourse.

You're right that human behaviour can be complex and influenced by various factors, including personal morals and upbringing. While it's true that not everyone who uses PCP may exhibit aggressive behaviour, it's important to acknowledge that PCP has a well-documented association with increased aggression and violent tendencies. The effects of substances can vary from person to person, and individual experiences may differ.

While it is true that some individuals may naturally display aggressive tendencies, it is important to recognize that substances such as PCP can significantly amplify and exacerbate aggressive behavior. While it is true that some individuals may display aggressive behaviour independent of any substance use, it is important to recognize that PCP is well-known for its potential to induce aggressive and violent behavior. PCP is a dissociative drug that can significantly alter brain function and perception, leading to unpredictable and often dangerous behaviour. Numerous studies and reports have documented the link between PCP use and increased aggression.

Being 70, lifelong learning, understanding, observation, experience, re-examination 24/7 365. The conscious cognosentient being is brain-body memory plus mind-thought memory and both are the consciousness of being. To ask a conscious cognosentient being to investigate itself, to define and to discover what it is and what it feels like, is like asking paint to describe and define its wetness and process of drying, or even asking water to describe and define its frozen state as opposed to its aridness.
@esotericrealms
@esotericrealms Місяць тому
Thank you for sharing your perspective on consciousness and the challenges of self-investigation. Your emphasis on lifelong learning, understanding, observation, and experience resonates deeply. It is indeed a fascinating exploration to delve into the nature of consciousness and the intricacies of its workings. Your analogy of asking a conscious being to investigate itself, likening it to asking paint to describe its wetness or water to define its frozen state, adds a touch of humour to the discussion. It highlights the inherent difficulty in attempting to fully grasp and define our own consciousness. The Chinese Room argument raises thought-provoking questions about the nature of intelligence and understanding. It challenges us to consider the limitations of mere information processing and the role of subjective experience in achieving true comprehension. I appreciate your contribution to the dialogue and your commitment to continuous learning and self-exploration. It is through engaging in discussions like these that we can further expand our understanding of consciousness and the complexities of the human mind. Thank you for sharing your insights and injecting a bit of humour into the conversation. May your journey of lifelong learning continue to be filled with curiosity, growth, and a touch of laughter.

Qualify progress? The whole assumption that the brain is the first cause of consciousness is dogmatic.
@esotericrealms
@esotericrealms Місяць тому
Thank you for sharing your perspective on studying consciousness. It is indeed valuable to consider diverse viewpoints in exploring the nature of consciousness. While many scientific studies suggest a strong correlation between brain activity and consciousness, it is important to recognize that our understanding of consciousness is still evolving, and there are ongoing debates and alternative hypotheses within the field. By questioning the assumption that the brain is the exclusive cause of consciousness, you raise a valid point about the potential limitations of a dogmatic approach. Exploring alternative explanations and factors that may contribute to consciousness beyond the brain can lead to new insights and a deeper understanding of this complex phenomenon.

the better the scientific studies are getting the less rational your prayers trying to bring emergent properties of consciousness into existence become. in fact the ex-pope of church physicalism has abandoned physicalism entirely. his partner in crime francis crick on the other hand has only doubled-down on his alter and is making assertions more unhinged than even searle saying the brain secretes thoughts like the gall bladder secretes bile.

Mdma isn't that hatmful as heroin or nicotine. However I would never try that, even though I heard that this drug can shift your mood for long time
@esotericrealms
@esotericrealms Місяць тому
While it's true that MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) may not be as physically harmful as heroin or nicotine, it's important to note that all drugs come with risks and potential dangers. MDMA can have significant effects on the brain and can lead to various health complications, including dehydration, increased heart rate, and potential long-term effects on mental health. It's commendable that you have chosen not to try MDMA despite hearing about its mood-altering effects. Making informed decisions about substance use is crucial for our well-being. If you're ever curious or have concerns about drugs, it's best to consult reliable sources or reach out to medical professionals who can provide accurate information and guidance. Remember, your health and well-being should always be a top priority. Stay informed, make responsible choices, and take care of yourself.

What does it mean to have the power to walk between worlds can someone explained it to me
@esotericrealms
@esotericrealms 4 місяці тому
The concept of "walking between two worlds" is commonly used in various spiritual, cultural, or metaphysical contexts to describe a state of existence or perception that bridges different realms, dimensions, or perspectives. It often implies the ability to navigate and interact with realities or experiences that may be considered distinct or separate. In some spiritual or shamanic traditions, "walking between two worlds" can refer to individuals who have the ability to access and communicate with both the physical world and the spiritual or metaphysical realms. They may serve as intermediaries, healers, or guides, facilitating connections and understanding between these different domains.
