Every piece of hardware I've bought from ASUS, be it GPU or MB, the have always failed just barely out of warranty. Dogshit company I decided never again to buy from. Feelin pretty good about that decision.

None of what you’re saying will do anything with this company. Here is what I did to get a major company to resolve a problem. I paid a company out of ukraine to post on Facebook, IG and other sites every 10 minutes negative comments about my problem with said company. It took a few days, the company turned off comments on their facebook page. I did not let up! After three days a representative from the company contacted me to resolve the issue. I let the representative know that I was just finalizing my second phase of attack, this was going to be a call center out of India that was going to flood their 800 line day in and day out until they resolve my problem. Yes I was willing to spend some money to get my problem resolved. Major companies hate negative posts online, they go through great lengths to remove anything negative Email campaigns also work, flood their inbox with thousands of the same emails requesting the problem to be resolved.

"(although I suspect you likely realise this)" I've been in or near customer service/sales for quite a long time. There is a nearly infinite list of possible things you could say in an email. This is easily in the bottom 10%.

Steve even mentioned it in his video, that this is not the first time ASUS does shady stuff. Last year they did something similar and some PR spokesperson said they will look into it... Seems like that didn't go to well. Yeah, I mean, ASUS was such a great company in the 00s. Actually I feel kind of heartbroken by this behavior. Have upgraded some stuff last year: A mainboard, GPU and even a new Laptop from them. That stuff scored well and was good value, so I got it... And now, I just hope that stuff doesn't die any time soon. Dealing with them seems to be a handful.

Yeah Asus kinda notorious in my country as well, especially on laptop and phone (ROG Phone, too many trouble less than a year usage), whereas on pc part less complain since the distributor handle the RMA not asus directly. Even their official reseller (if you a regullar customer) when you want to buy asus laptop/phone would gave you a warning to prepare yoursef if you ever need to use the ASUS warranty service, yup that bad.

Thank you so much Louis you are the best. I had one case of A2179 with no shorts on none of the two CD3217. The current draw was 0.312A at 5V and boot looping. I replaced the EEPROM for the second chip and for my surprise i got the 20V on the connector of that IC. Then i replaced the another IC and EUREKA! both connectors were getting the 20V. Your video was a great base to do the analysis and troubleshooting. Thanks a lot bro , THUMBS UP :D

I want to point out again that for a EULA to be valid, it has to appear BEFORE the purchase is made, it must be clear at the point of sale that those are the terms of the sale. But this is not where it appears. Often it appears after purchase. Most often for games it appears inside of the game itself after you've already launched it. This is a "shrink-wrap" agreement which is already illegal. Don't even read it, it's a waste of your time.

3:17 just a minor correction, but ASUS didn't suggest anyone open the Ally and remove the internal SSD, that was Steve's suggestion. Your logic is solid, but extend it a little further: ASUS whilst clearly shady, are not going to require your average consumer (in order to submit an RMA) to watch tear down videos to learn how to remove the internal SSD on what is effectively a consumer product/mass market toy.

After learning all the problems with the $$$ Nintendo Switch, I bought an Odroid Go Super that runs Batocera, and am so happy I did. It was a lot cheaper and I have total control over the content. Will it run the latest games? No. Are there thousands of older games that are just as fun that it will run? Yes definitely!

I have Asperger's, I would never talk like that guy to someone, especially not for someone using a few minuscule words, the guy seems paranoid to be honest and that's truly sad, might be autistic burnout which is hard to deal with if it's severe enough, I know that all too well myself. I know it's an old video and I hope things are better now but I needed to say it, being on the spectrum is no excuse to treat others badly!

2:45 Mostly because of two reasons. Just poor quality of sticks because of cheaper parts and such but still could get stick drift, and number two, they use a completely different way for the sticks which was used in controllers like the Dreamcast, it used magnets instead of the method they use now which for the ones that use magnets basically never get stick drift ever. So yeah, in short, planned obsolesce. Its one of those areas they can upcharge since for almost all console manufactures they often make almost no money on the console, if not even *lose* money on it. People often buy many different controllers just for one console. Happened a lot with even the Xbox 360 and most notably now the Switch and PlayStation 4.

That could only be worse if they destroyed one or more of the parts beyond repair or in a way that would require a professional repair. Just how above the law does someone need to think they are before they send you back your device disassembled like this? I know if I sent something in and got it back disassembled for some BS reason I would be very upset and on the phone with a lawyer after the minimum of a few days it would take for me not to be such a grouch! Does Asus do this to a lot of people? They should all form a class action and sue Asus into complete bankruptcy!

N64 controllers were not that sturdy, pretty much anything with that tech wears out over time. Controllers before that didn't have a stick, rather a dpad. Those last quite a bit longer. There's actually a video on how speed runners of Mario 64 keep wearing out controllers and the prices went crazy, with some independent efforts to produce new controllers. Apparently this particular thing isn't easy! PS and xbox controllers seem to do better. Not immortal, but they last some time w/o bad drift. Disassembling a product the way this video describes is not mere fraud. It's fraud + property damage.

Speaking of old controllers, I still have PS1/PSX OG DualShock 1 and it does not have joystick drift, and it never will. Why ? Cuz it "calibrates" itself on the fly. It was designed this way. It is build like a tank. Analogue sticks ary so flimsy due to being heavily use, but it never ever had drift (and again, never will). Nowadays we have this "miracle" hall effect joysticks and yet the only one who makes controllers with hall effect are 3rd party companies. Sony & MS don't use them even in their top of the line, highly overpriced most expensive gamepads. And of course it is done for us to buy new ones over & over. So, here is a live hack for you: Buy old & used PSX Dual Shock and a USB adapter. There. It will last forever.
