5 good videos in the series - deep in my past there was a History Teacher called sandy Pittendreigh who taught us this kind of material (mid-1970s). Unfortuntaely, I as only at that school for 2 years, then went on to a' Grammer' School where it reverted to French Revolution, Russian revolution and WW2. Scottish History was far more interesting - the Grammer School was in the grips of neo-Marxist revisionism! My own background is Viking, but from a wave of economic migrants in the 1860s!!

Thank you Bruce for another awesome video. I was wondering though, have you ever done any videos on the history of towns like Killberry, Campbeltown & Southend, on the Kintyre Peninsula? WHAT YOU ARE NOT SAYING ABOUT CONTINUED SLAVERY IN AFRICA AND MIDDLE EAST TODAY. Watched this video from beginning to end. Disappointed and shameful entitled,politically correct, attention seeking and victim attempt to claim future reparations? Line up after the Jews of the Exodus, Scottish Clearances or Uighurs of China - no comparison! Only thing missing was a kilt and Scottish lament played on a mournful bagpipe. Slavery is repulsive. White folks were the last in and first out. Ever heard of Wilberforce and Pitt? But that does not fit the PC narrative does it. 19:04 So Arabic Muslim and African slavery continues to exist as it always has? Crickets. So the baloney sandwich tour with effected Scottish performance speaks for itself. No doubt David Livingston is an anathema to marxist-socialist folks who benefit obesely from UK labor benefit programs, welfare, dietary and educationally. Enjoy the benefits and perks of Western World Democracy Social Programs and Free Market Capitalism until it collapses by traitors from within, then God help us all including dependent 2nd and 3rd world folks. Looking forward to a documentary that discusses African Independence state failures although left with democracy, infrastructure, balanced budget etc. Africa was cursed with Tribalism long before whitey arrived. Look to India, the largest English speaking Democracy in the World and compare. Thank God you were rescued by Scotland and if ungrateful, you could always return from whence you originate from. Not likely. If anthropologists are correct and humans originated in Africa, then slavery begins and ends in Africa? “TIS” - Canadian born in Scotland who has traveled the World

@SWR11217 годин тому
Not in Scotland mate we run nearly 80-100% renewable daily and now in fact produce 140% of our yearly needs. One of the biggest hydro project in the U.K. at Ben Cruachan is only miles down the road from where he is charging. Not to be rude but next time actually learn some facts before posting absolutely rubbish. It’s obviously not your fault you just don’t know about the scale of renewables now in Scotland. In fact wouldn’t be surprised if Bruce got his charge for free if it’s at a charge Scotland site as we normally produce more electricity than then country can use hence our intercontinental connection to Norway where we send our excess for storage and they send it back.
@ScotlandHistoryTours14 годин тому
I'm not saying that I agree with electricity privatisation, but one thing it has done is provided choice that allows me to use a supplier that only uses renewables. Obviously I don't have that control when chrging out and about, but see comment from @SWR112

Argyll is one of the most fascinating areas of Scotland, forget the East Coast, Fife & Edinburgh. Get yourself out West, it truly is the only place to visit in Scotland. Bruce’s story has several holes in it as usual!! Kilchurn Castle pronounced Kil-churn(milk churn), was occupied by many Clans over the years. In fact that area on Loch Awe is one of the most important strategical land areas in Scotland. Around that area & Islands of Loch Awe, there’s literally about 20-30 sites of Castles. Kilchurn Castle doesn’t stand near Glen Orchy, it’s further up the Road. That area at Loch Awe was the hub & the junction of loads of Glens, Drovers Routes & Trade Routes. You had Glen Stray(MacGregor country), Glenoe(MacIntyre country) Glen Kinglass(MacFarlane Country) Glen Loch.....etc etc. It was only latterly that the area was controlled by the Campbells, though big 18:13 hitters in Argyll, they had many advisories, no more so than the MacDougalls of Dunstaffnage & land around Oban, north of Loch Awe. Argyll was a Hanoverian stronghold, with many Clans supporting the British Crown, even today it’s notorious for its Britishness. The Union Jack flies high in Inveraray!! South of Oban there’s the small town of Easdale, which is a Norse name. The Vikings had a very big influence in the Argyll area. With remnants of Norse occupation in Kimartin, it was far from a Celtic people 18:13 in the area. Many Scots Kings were descended from Vikings. I digress, Easdale was the Largest town in the area, with huge Slate Quarries, when Oban was just a small Fishing Village. Anyway, thanks for reading. It’s now time for my very large Dram. Scottish British & Proud 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Hiya, Bruce! I became interested in Scotland due to my neighbor/mentor (Jessie Burns of Dundee) who told me tales of her life and Scottish history. It turned this American born Roma girl into a Jacobite sympathizer who learned tartsns and listened to Kenneth Mckellar. I am so impressed by the coomplexity of the history you treat with such passion. I am hooked. Keep up the good work and congrats on an electric vehicle. She had me reciting Robert Burns that even to this day, when l slow down speech to enunciate, folk ask what country l am from. I still miss her.
