If you find a grass bed near the bedding area try using a fluke behind a chatterbait. Put the fluke on like a Texas rigged worm. The tail should stand upward so if it's laying on the bottom it kinda looks like a crayfish and when you snap it off the bottom the tail kicks around like crazy. It has put some big smallmouth in my hands on pressured water. Seems like it only works on the 3plus pound females

Hey there Al! Love you brother! Have a question for you. How to get a hook out of your finger. I just had a catfish pull a 5/0 circle on a two hook rig into my finger past the barb. I eventuallythe tip pushed on thru and cut off The barn and pulled it out. Me and my buddy like to never got that barb cut off. Any better ways to do it? I’m sure you have done it a time or two. Grrrr. 😂 The weather has em so messed up here. They want to go but every day is windy with a number of em rainy. Lake up 5 ft and into the trees and bushes making it hard to get to em from the bank. And while I still do it to some extent, walking the big rip-rap at my age makes for a rough on me day. And right about the time the time will be right, I forsee the corps will start dumping a bunch of water out driving them off the banks. I do have an old fire tiger countdown that hasn't seen any use so maybe... On the other hand, every day out is a blessing from the Lord. And He brings em to me,,, or He doesn't. In everything give thanks! It's the day the Lord hath made,,, rejoice and be glad. And thanks AL, for the tips over the last 25 or so years!

You can stop just short of cutting away from the tail flip the fish repeat process, so both slabs are still connected by the tail. You can either scale them or de-skin them and fry them in one big piece with a nice crunchy tail!

Dang when I saw that sign saying a 5 fish limit on panfish and crappie I realized you weren’t anywhere in the south. Your panfish populations are really struggling. My best wishes it recovers..

Such beautiful country up there in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin along the lakes. I've always wanted to see that part of the country but seem to get pulled on an another direction come vacation time. I grew up and lived in the southeast my whole life until a 3 week road trip to the west 20 years ago and every 4 or 5 years thereafter sealed my fate. I now live in the desert southwest but still feel a pull to see those areas of the Great Lakes now and then. There's so much to see out here but hopefully I'll decide the next big vacation will be to the western Great Lakes area.

Too bad the eyeballs never stay on the jigs. They fall off just by being in your plano box. Very poor quality control for a premium jig.

I have that exact lure on the thumbnail of this video. And in one weeks time I’ve caught about 50 crappie and some bass the biggest being 2.7 pounds.

I can not count the limits of crappie I've caught using the old Road Runner marabou jig with a spinner. It is my still go to bait when fishing crappies!

Great video. Lake Vermillion looks a lot like here on Eagle lake. We hit mainlake humps that top out at 15 feet deep soon as ice is out but once they move off I'm going to try searching spots like this in your video.
