Well, there's this thing called "Cost to quality" - And you can't trash the quality of a product without putting it in the context of the cost. I see a lot of hate for certain types of products, products of certain origins, none of which carries the context of the price point. OK - my thoughts - I'm a budget cgar smoker. I can't afford the big brands. I have never smoked a Habanos brand other than Jose L Piedra and Quintero. Among the new world brands, the only premium ones I've smoked are the Davidoff Primeros (again a budget cigar). How do I measure for quality? I can either say a particular cigar is good, or is crap - but it wouldn't be a true review - so I created a spreadsheet for myself,. where I give a cigar a rating, and divide it by the cost per cubic inch of the cigar. Take the example of the Gurkha Cellar Reserve Grand Rothschild - it's 6 inches by 58 ring gauge, so an approximate volume of 3.87 cubic inches. I then divide the price by the volume and I get around $7.74 (in India) per cubic inch. I take this and divide it by the rating - I gave the cigar a rating of 8.4, which gives me a price per volume per rating of 76.89. I use this measure to decide whether or not I find the quality (in essence the rating I give the cigar) worth the price I pay for it. If I had say, $2000 and I wanted to buy cigars, based on what I have in the humidor, I'd pick a Price/Rating range that I want to buy in, and go with that. There are times when I want to smoke a 9+ rated cigar, and there are times when I don't want to smoke an expensive cigar - so I pick one that has a good Price/Rating and go with it. For example, there is an Indian cigar maker called Fenn Thompson. If you look at cigar quality, it isn't comparable. When aged at least a year, they're quite decent for an everyday smoke - works out to something like $2.7 a piece (I only make around $1270 a month - so not rich) - and yes, the draw is a little inconsistent, and the flavours are sometimes a little too grassy, but at the price point (there just ISN'T ANY cigar available in that price point in India), it's difficult to say it's just trash - I'm smoking one of their Havana Blend Petit Coronas and it isn't bad - a little tight draw, but while chilling on a Monday afternoon, I can live with that, especially knowing I can continue smoking cigars without having to worry about how expensive a hobby it otherwise is. I think people forget this. Yeah - if you're making $5k a month, there are lots of $10 - $15 cigars that are suddenly affordable. Would it be fair to trash Fenn Thompson because you're suddenly able to afford a Macanudo or Padron? I doubt it. I think this is what you need to consider before blindly hating a cigar.

Late afternoon / early evening for me. Cigar would be either a Perdomo or a Drew Estate Larutan Dirt torpedo on the patio, with whatever drink I'm in the mood for

I had my first Padron, Soberano, a few days ago. The draw was easy and the smoke thick, but it went out halfway through and refused to stay lit after that. The other cigars in my humidor and another I bought with the Padron didn't do that. I can't imagine I got that bad of a bad cigar but don't know what I could have done differently.

I just picked this humidor up today and I had a question about the fan that’s on the inside. Is it supposed to be running all the time or is it on like a timer? Mine seemed to stop spinning after a few minutes

I'm a bartender. I usually get off around 10:30. I get home around 11. :00. That's my best time to have a cigar relax after making a bunch of money. Lately I've been digging brickhouse Connecticut. I've been trying to find a cigar that I want to call my favor but I'm still not there yet. I like too many of them

I really enjoyed the cigar. To be honest I haven't found a Southern Draw cigar lacking. The Cedrus and the Manzanita are favorites. The Kudzu is second to these.

“Let the cigar die with dignity” I learned this from a tour of the Aurora cigar factory in DR, that It’s out of respect to the craftsmanship and artistry involved in cigar making, appreciating every aspect until the very end.

Recently met Robert and Sharon at an event here in TX. They couldn't have been nicer. After talking and listening to them, I purchased a box of Desert Rose of Sharon for my wife. Robert gave me 2 Manzanita Rubustos to try. I smoked one as soon as I got home then ordered a box soon after. This cigar is at the top of my list of cigars. It fits my pallet perfectly, and I really appreciate how they support local businesses and veterans. I'm a big fan of Southern Draw now and looking forward to sampling their other lines of Cigars.

Not, that NC's are always bad. But no NC can reach a Cuban. Cuban tobacco is the best around the world, flavor profiles are pretty different. And yes, they need a lower humidity, than NC's. Ask Cuban cigar manufacturers in DR, Nicaragua, etc. They are Cuban cigar masters, tried their best, but are not able to recreate a Cuban outside of Cuba. Just like you can't recreate a OpusX outside the DR. Or a Padron outside outside of Nicaragua. Not with the same seed, not with the same soil. Ask Tobacco traders, like the Meerapfel family, the Villingers, or manufacturers like the Padrons, the Fuentes, Don Pepin, etc. They really know about tobacco qualities coming out of Cuba. And no, you don't piss me off, you just dragging your reputation into the mud. Looks, like you are pissed off, because you can't sell Cubans in your shop in the US. Love to see your videos, after the embargo will be cancelled at some point. And please, stop buying fake Cuban cigars in Mexico. They not even made with Cuban tobacco.
