I made between $12,000 and $13,000 last year in income before taxes were taken out. This is roughly $13 per hour working three days a week. No unemployment, no UBI. I could probably qualify for Public Housing Subsidies since I have Medicaid, but I don’t feel comfortable living by myself in a place that is dangerous. Nothing so far has convinced me that UBI is any good, it sounds like a pipe dream for the Uber rich to pat themselves on the back for helping less fortunate people. That is patronizing to me.

What an absolute pleasure to listen Mr. West. I'm surprised he isn't mentioned more in "general culture." I had only heard of him a couple of times but I never knew how intelligent, wise, and accomplished he is. I'll be reading his book "Race Matters." Also, thanks to David Blight from Yale because it was listening to his lectures on the civil war that I was introduced to Du Bois's book and subsequently found Cornel West's lecture on the book. David said that all American citizens should be required to read the souls of black folk and now I understand why.
