As a Canadian who lived in Greece I will attest that Greeks, if they know you can be quite warm and friendly, but otherwise keep their distance with strangers. I live here in America now and can be quite shocked sometimes how Americans cross the personal space with casual acquaintances or even total strangers. My favorite people in this regard has to be the Finns and Swedes, icy cold and reserved.

Fun fact about the origins of Mountza. It comes all the way from antiquity where a popular way of rediculing political convicts was by means of rubbing impurities on their face. Later survived as the open hand gesture indicating contempt and disrespect

This is a very nice video and a great effort to bring Greeks and Turks closer to each other. Due to my profession I socialize with lots of Turks every day and I have to say that we share many common traits. They are loud and crazy (in a good way) just like us the Greeks, they are polite and have a good sense of humor, they are friendly toward Greece and the people of Greece and what I've come to realize is that they too, just like us Greeks, want to live peacefully alongside us in the "neighborhood". So, let the people of Greece and Turkey dictate to the politicians that we no longer wish for any kind of "kavga" and that both nations want to live in peace and friendship as their basic merit. Live and let live. I wish all the best to Turkey and their people and my hope is that one day the two nations will come to realize that they have nothing to fight about. Let love, friendship and peace prevail.

Hello Easy Greek family i want to say something about the Greece and Türkiye discussion. Yes we are learning how the things went in ww1 but i believe we are saying past is in the past. It was soo long ago yeah both country make so much sacrifices for their own lands but in the end we are sharing so many common points food, dances, music... We are not hating you actually lots of us to sympathise your culture. I wish i can express myself correctly 🙏🏼

depends on the area, and since mostly interviews take place in metropolitan areas you wont get the real picture, for example islanders have their own specific traditional music, or cretans for example, or ipirotes (from epirus prefecture) etc etc however teenagers are the same all over the globe, following he trend

Greeks take better care of their coasts and seas than us. That's a fact. Besides having a vacation and eating out is more expensive for us turks in our homeland than in greek islands. Sad but true also.

Ancient Greece - Macedonian Empire - Byzantine Empire to Greece. Europe is a Greek concept so it’s not even a matter if Greece is European or not. Greek DNA is distinct from the Middle East and from the Nordic DNA that later migrated to current England, Germany, France etc. So Greeks are pretty unique in that way to avoid any confusion about West and East.

Liguisticaly : The nearest link in the east is with Armenia, Iran then India. Turkish and semitics languages are totally differents from Greek. Religion : Ancient polytheism and christinianity more linked to Europe. Genetically : The least distant genetic link with modern Greeks is northern Italia. Music/food : In fact, it's because byzantium and ottoman period spread their own food/music to mediteranean. Mentality and behavior : I would say between nothern Europe and near-east, but more like balkanic. Clothes : Ancient greece and byzantium were very like the rest of Europe.

Stereotypes by people who speak non-sense obviously. Also the persons in the videos do not represent (and its not fitting for them to speak for anybody but themselves) every Hellenic person, let alone i guess most of the persons in the vid are Minor Asians/pontics, so they are not actually 100% Hellenic, but Turk-Armenoid-mixed. Which of course explains comments such "as sitting many hours on cafeterias/being lazy, just hang outside all the time and swear and shout", and playing with a "komboloi". Yes, some Greeks play with komboloi too, and its a disgrace and meaningless, and above all annoying thing to do when you are out with people. Many "minor asians" in Pireus of Athens. Athens being Europe's ugliest and dirtiest capital, with Pireus being one of worst parts.
