Been about 97% consistent with drawing digitally every day (fell off after starting college 8 years ago after being happy with where I was traditionally. I’m already at a point where I’m able to look back at my best pieces from back in the day and see flaws and things I can do better. I just do a 30 min sketch, but take care to properly self critique afterwards. For me it’s more about being lost on techniques/effects to render things. There’s lots of do specific things to get specific results in this specific case, but not a lot of “doing this type of thing causes this type of effect” - it’s all hyper specific instead of generalized tools. Eager to finish recovering from my surgery so I can get back into practice. Not allowed to be leaning over a tablet and my desk isn’t equipped to fasten an am onto (glass top). Guess I gotta break for another 3-5 weeks until the doctor says I can. Getting antsy though

I'd say I've been a beginner for years, always giving up at some point because "life gets in the way" or I get too frustrated... So it also means I've watched a ton of videos like this, and I can safely say yours is one of the best ones I've seen. Yeees, I've been struggling with art, specially digital art, because i want to rush through it. I feel i dont have the patience to really work on it, or I'm so anxious to finish it. Could be the illusion of the timelapses but i suffer from this syndrome way more with digital art than with traditional art. It's tough :') i really want to fix that

Pikat, after you got the sketching/drawing going on, how did you move to rendering and coloring? I've been a traditional artist for as long as I remember and just recently I moved to digital art, it's been a struggle!! I don't know which brush to use for so many things but mainly I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to colors.

I just found your video, it's very useful! I am almost a 28 y.o. man who want to draw to have money and fun, and I often face the problem when I sit next to blank paper for hours and can't draw what I want. I always underestimated drawing primitives because I thought I am fine with perspective, but I never thought that I need it to make connection between hand and mind to make it easier to imagine volumes and build my drawing easily! Also, your avatar is very creative! That style of pixel-art in 3D looks very adorable! I wish to see it in the game one time :) And I love your voice. It's very soothing and attractive. Yeah in those short videos they always either show the best parts and cut everything else or the drawing already done and they erase/redraw some parts

So true. Literally what I was thinking designing my character, I got so deep into making it perfect that I just needed to simplify and execute. Like my character design can be summed up as “Polynesian Goku.” and I wouldn’t have it any other way (at least for now).
