This feels almost like a metaphor, not for death as another person said, but for growing up. Getting past highschool and going into job/college. The airport terminal being that transition period of your life that everyone goes through. Getting through highschool almost feels like your dying/drowning (especially if you're grinding for getting good colleges) but really you're being born, entering the main section of your life be it college or a job. "imagining where the planes are going" is where everyone else you know is going. The "night" definitely has something to do with this too but I'll figure it out later. Although I do agree that "one day soon we'll all be together" does work for an interpretation of this as just a whole life in general.
