Great review Andrew. This laptop for $900 has grabbed my attention. BTW, have you hear much from laptop suppliers about their future support of the Dell developed Compression Attached Memory Module (CAMM) technology that was suppose to allow replaceable DRAM memory in compact laptops? I think one supplier (Lenovo?) has introudced it in a laptop. The CAMM tech will replace the old DIMM sockets/technology.

I had to replace the battery in the 2021 model after only 2.5 years. It swelled and split the case open. HP no longer sells batteries to consumers. I have never had a laptop battery fail in such a short time.

Lenovo legion slim 5 14.5 inch with 7840hs, 32 ram, 4060, 1 tb storage vs asus vivobook 15 pro 15.6 inch, intel core 9, 24 ram, 4060 and 1tb storage.... asus is a bit more expensive... i mostly work with photoahop and adobe...photoediting.... is asus worth over lenovo for 200 eur more?

A competitive port selection would be two Thunderbolt 4 ports in 2024, more USB-C ports, less USB-A ports (if any at all). Otherwise great laptop with finally good battery life.

I have a XPS 17 9720 fully loaded, still has some driver issues with Integrated to Nvidia GPU switching, lots of lag or some times the GPU missing in action when serious 3D application is being used. Fixed it by setting preferred GPU to dedicated- Nvidia and it runs silky smooth now, no lag anymore :) . As it keeps the GPU available , but most of the light work is still on the integrated GPU. Wake-up timer have turned to fix sleep issues - staying on when lid was down some times. Could not get RAID 0 to on my laptop with two 4 TB 980 Pro's even with loading the drivers durring the initial Windows Install.... Love the old XPS not the new ones

That's a weird way to spell "travesty." The XPS 16 is a joke of a device, replacing a decent XPS 15 and a good XPS 17 with none of the benefits of either. Thank god we get 1-3% performance gains for soldered RAM and a device that isn't anywhere near slim enough to excuse the lack of replaceable RAM.

I love how I kept seeing people recommending this thing, yet there's no way it's acceptable that a 16" device has soldered RAM.

I'm a simple man: I see soldered RAM in a 15"+ model, I pass. I was considering one of these, but now I know to skip it. Thanks.

Dang, that $800 price tag is a great deal, but without that deal, you are only saving 200 for not having the upgraded resolution and and only 60Hz refresh rate. I think the extra 200 might be worth the cost in that aspect.

I have last years 7430 model. With HDMI 2.1 and 90hz screen and the 13th gen 13700H. 32GB Ram and RTX4050. Good value for the same price range.

I've had hard time opening my XPS 17 for the first time too. It took me like 1.5 h and I was so stressed because I didn't want to damage anything. It was my brand new PC after all. Shame on Dell for not getting it right in their new laptops

I returned this laptop today because the touch pad can't handle palm rejection properly and so I can't type keyboard with comfort. Samsung did update the firmware to fix it, but it still has the problem. I tested another Galaxy book4 pro and even Galaxy book3 pro. Both has the same problem. It means Samsung can't resolve the issue. I also tested other lenovo laptops. Palm rejection works very well.

Hi, I have a question about the MiniLED display. I just received my unit and in SDR mode, it looks like a regular IPS panel. its only when i put it in HDR mode does it look like a MiniLED. is that the expected behaviour?
