Apparently you can get images with notifications if you pay for their cloud service except not available on the PoE version which is so stupid! And this is what’s stopping me purchasing this doorbell. I have a Reolink cctv system so would fit in perfectly, but this one issue is stopping me.

I recently picked up the Tapo (TP-Link) doorbell camera and it seems to have the best of both of those doorbell cameras... EXCEPT it has no HA integration and I wish I had seen this video first and done more research first, I usually do do a ton of research but based my decision off of how easy it was to integrate some Kasa outlets and made the mistake of thinking the Tapo side of TP-Link would be the same experience, I was all kinds of wrong. Seriously wondering if I should just return it and get the Reolink instead.

Everything was working fine, until I needed to put in my default endpoint. I can copy it in, but I keep getting an error that says "The Lambda ARN arn:aws:lambda:us-east-2:.............:function:HomeAssistant is not valid for any of the supported regions." I'm not sure how to get past this point. :(

Great review. One thing not mentioned is how it deals with the normal join you get in the ball chain. I have a metal ball chain cord and there is a big chunky plastic joiner which would have go through where the cog wheel would be for this smart device when opening or closing the blinds. I can't see how that would feed through or how it would work around that. There's no way for me to position the joiner in any location that doesn't pass through the lowest point of the cord so it would have to go through the cog wheel. Any thoughts?

Thanks! I ended up using the VPN option. Reason is that I would have to forward ports for each thing I want to access remotely. Home assistant, cameras, etc. and the list seems to get longer every year. Each port that’s forwarded is one more headache to manage, and one more hole in the firewall to keep secure. Just my personal preference for now. Maybe that will change.

Everything Smart Home Hello, I'm trying to setup the motion sensor automation as it is in the video. But I can't manage to find the motion sensor entity in home assistant. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0", 2019), and i have the camera motion sensor activeted. It works if I wave at it, I can't create any automations, because the sensor is not present in HA. Can you please explain how did you make the sensor present. at the moment all I can see is this: 'switch.galaxy_tab_a_8_0_2019_motion_detection'. Thank you!

If you say "Toggle the light" in the command script, you can use that script in the button and it'll toggle on or off without getting the state.

Is there any possibility to use this as a presence sensor for the standard wired smart home system (Grenton for example)? I am looking for something with IO pins, so it could send a signal to the I/O module anytime the object is detected. Grenton is able to integrate with some features from Home Assistant, but I'm afraid that it may cause some delay.

Nice price, but I would be careful with anything with Samsung NVME drives, they tend to brick themselves after a year or 2. No idea why they haven't recalled them. I personally had one fail, couldn't flash it before or after either.

Hello sir, its been a year since you released this video. Do you know if Reolink has solved the issue with having the wifi doorbell on a different VLAN from the NVR? I can easily allow traffic between the VLANs that I need, but like you said in the video that didn't help at the time. I'm using a Unifi setup, and all of my Wifi SSIDs are on thier own VLAN. Not sure its even possible to put them on the wired VLAN (aside from the fact that isn't a good idea anyway).

i find it good for family members you want to get setup even it you're really experienced. It's just easy an fuss free. Nice job. HA is starting to really look promising for the future. I think this should just be a starting point device. If you wanted to add security cams, AI, plex, or other energy hunger features, these should just be addon hub/devices.

But at the end I bought it and when I finally received it, I was very disappointed as I was trying to add it to my HomeKit and can not.
