I've seen many of your helpful interview tips, especially before an interview. I have one tomorrow and it will be my second one. This time, to 'meet and greet the group and boss.' Your videos certainly help me prepare weeks, if not the day before. There was one video lesson I used before my next one tomorrow, and it got a great response from my two interviewers. I smiled a lot. You mentioned smiling and it not only worked, but it was contagious! They smiled along with me. haha! I take notes from your classes and use them in my interviews. I'll try not to sway my eyes around too much while reading my notes when they should be in the interviewer's eyes. Thanks for your great work helping others out. Keep up the good work! :D

If they ghost you, don't waste your time finding out the why. Apply to multime job offers at the same time. Your job is only send your resume, not seeking validation
@jeffhsipepi10 годин тому
@julioo534, I 100% agree, after being ghosted, not everyone will want to reengage, and for those that do, I hope these tips make sense. Hearing back from a Recruiter is not about validation, it could lead to feedback and potentially future opportunities. I also think that applying is a third step. I recommend networking and or getting referred as a good options one and two.

Hi Jeff, I have an interview for the New Business Account Strategist role in 2 days. Loving your videos to prepare for the interview but wanted to ask a question for my clarity. The question you have mentioned in this video "Open A Pastry Shop?". Don't you think you're going into very fine details? Like we can also start our response based on clarifying questions like; 1. What will be the location for my pastry shop? 2. What budget do I have? 3. Do I have experience being a pastry chef or shop owner? 4. What advertising strategies do I have in mind for my business? 5.How many other pastry shops are close to my shop's location? Please let me know what you think of these questions, these are the ones that popped into my mind right after reading your questions. Looking forward to your response :)
@jeffhsipepi10 годин тому
@MIbtehajKhan, in my opinion, most candidates don't go into enough detail. Details help the interviewer envision you in the role. All of your questions except question number 3. are open-ended questions. When asking clarifying questions in a job interview, close your questions, think, either/or and or yes/no questions. Give your interviewer options so they can quickly answer you and do not have to create the answer on their own.

Hi Jeff, thank you very much for those amazing videos. The tips you give are very insightful and helpful. Hey Jeff, would you be able to provide any insight on how to ask for these higher comp numbers if I don’t have much leverage (no competing offers, already well above current comp)? I feel like it’s more difficult to negotiate a higher salary if I am not able to provide a “good” reason they should increase the comp.
@jeffhsipepi9 днів тому
@painappuru3153, great question!! The biggest misconception is that you need to have leverage to negotiate with Big Tech companies, you do not. You simply need to anchor high and reiterate that you want your Recruiter to advocate for you. The reason to negotiate is most initial offers are the lowest end of what they will offer you, so there is always room to drive the offer up.
@painappuru31539 днів тому
@@jeffhsipepi thank you so much for the reply! A quick follow up question I have is how to determine how high to set the anchor, would a good baseline be just above the upper limit of the salary range for the position?
@docMurk11 днів тому
Congrats on three years! Incredible to think the number of lives you changed in that time! Question for you I didn't get a chance to ask: What is your view on proactively reaching out to recruiters via LinkedIn before/after submitting an application? I'm applying for a mid-career non-tech roles in program management and policy, and I'm eager to try and 1) get feedback and 2) reach hiring managers however possible. When you were at Google, would you connect with (and provide feedback to) an applicant who proactively reached out to you?
@jeffhsipepi9 днів тому
@docMurk, I am not against this strategy, but you will have well under 1% success ever hearing back. I definitely recommend the before applying strategy (networking) and specifically reaching out to hiring managers, not Recruiters. Now we will not always know who the hiring manager is, but it is okay to try, and it is important that you focus on giving instead of taking. Instead of asking them to review your resume or ask them to hire you, provide them with a cool article or video relevant to them and their job space. Repeat multiple times and someone will follow up and ask how they can help you. Good luck!
@venumaj11212 днів тому
you mentioned while interviewing google you dont even what leveling you are interviewing for. But during system design interviews, I was told my interviewer that I was interviewing for l7 level.....
@jeffhsipepi11 днів тому
@venumaj112, you are 100% correct! Some candidates definitely know their target level before and during the interviews. Oftentimes Recruiters do not want to commit to providing candidates with their target level because ultimately the interviewers and finally HC will be the ultimate decision makers. They do this to not disappoint candidates who get down-leveled at the end of the interview process, but still make it to the offer stage. I hope this provides a little clarity.

How does startups hire and whats their growth plan looks like for smart people working for them.. i as hvac engineer in Aec construction industry want to start working with startups as i feel it might get me unimaginable career growth.. is it fair and right to think..
@jeffhsipepi12 днів тому
@mohibquadri4053, startup employees get richer faster, I would say this is the case sometimes, but definitely not all the time. Startups all hire differently and have different growth strategies. If you want to work for a startup and have the opportunity to interview with them, I recommend understanding more about their growth/future plans.
@mohibquadri405313 днів тому
Jeff As you've mentioned in last answer after doing those things which idea/method i should use after career gap for job search to get job faster ? Cold email or cold call to potential recruiters or directors.. what would be better techniques in such a situation.. once i messaged directly to a recruiter on LinkedIn and it fortunately converted into an interview offer some years back..
@jeffhsipepi12 днів тому
@mohibquadri4053, you can always try cold calling if you can get their direct number, of course the likelihood that they answer is small. Next, cold email, again, if you can find their email address online. And third is LinkedIn. I recommend reaching out to hiring managers over Recruiters. Sometimes it can be hard to determine who the hiring manager is by looking online. Lastly, I always recommend giving instead of asking. For example, instead of reaching out via email or LinkedIn for instance and asking them to interview you. I would reach out and offer a cool article or video that is relevant to their field and ask for nothing. This is a longer networking strategy that I always recommend!
@shawnchang681413 днів тому

@jeffhsipepi12 днів тому
@shawnchang6814, it really seems like there are two instances when people are getting this assessment and in both cases the resume seems to have been reviewed.
