There are few instances where the cover was better than the original song. Might be controversial to say but I always felt this is one of those instances. Kim Wilde just nailed this song.

Such an awesome piece of work by an equally awesome --often ignored-- artist, the great Al Stewart. For some reason, I didn't fully appreciate the beauty of the lyric and harmonic combination until, maybe, a decade after it was first released. Obviously, I enjoy the original, but for some reason I've always heard the late B.B. King -- especially when he was in him prime-- doing a cover of Stewart's tune. Don't ask! But FOR DECADES I've always imagined him singing this particular tune...belting out the lyrics in a gruff, Delta shoutin' manner, and use of select falsetto vocals towards the climax of the lyrics and tune. Love this performance. Thanks, Heroes.
