Broken Man > Flea > Big Time Nothing is a killer run of songs. The "island" vibe on the 2nd half is pretty cool. Somewhat disjointed but i like the album. your comment about her doing 007... i noticed a lot of similarity in sound/style on this album with the last two arctic monkeys records (who i also suspect are trying to get a Bond theme)

I think he makes some good points here, but I don’t think Fontano is familiar with the chronology of these songs and Chappell as an artist. Many of these songs were written and released YEARS ago and then were subsequently added to this debut album. She doesn’t sound like Swift (current pop era) or Rodrigo because she came before them in many ways

It’s weird because when she was younger she was a phenomenal writer and the past few albums have been…yikes and all her music sounds the same to herself and other artist. I know her and jack are the best of friends and jack is an extremely talented man musically with 1989 folklore and his bands outside of Taylor swift but I can’t wait for her to work with someone else

Sorry Fantano, I already formed my own opinion on this album

I felt like this about her videos before ! The last videos, except the one from the Red Vault, don't make any sense at all. But then her fans would go : there's 5 light bulbs because she's re-releasing her fifith album, and then she wears a black dress like she did in Reputation, and then there's a red scarf, it's a nod to the scarf in one song, and then she's in a cup because when she dated that guy she was photographed with a cup... But do you realize I'm watching a music video that has nothing to do with the lyrics and she's in black in a lightbulb having a cup and a scarf is flying by?

'Actor' is still my favourite. I love that record.

WHERE IS DILLOMS ALBUM FANTANO

Tbh I don’t usually agree w fantano but on this one 100%. Their last album was awesome, I’d probably give it a 9 or even a 10. The whole thing was cohesive, great listen back to back and there were a lot of songs so keeping my attention the full album means it was good. This album as a follow-up was a dissapointment. I probably would’ve given it a little bit higher if a rating like maybe a 6, there’s good songs on there but the album just feels like it doesn’t know what it’s doing. We have the butt rock songs which tbh hate on it all you want but it was a good era of music, the classic heavy code orange, and then some things were pretty experimental imo the theater of cruelty was probably my favorite non-single and sounded more in the direction of what this album should’ve sounded like. There’s just no concept, no aesthetic, no consistency throughout the album at all, and calling it a mashup I think fits the bill perfectly. And then bringing it back to the butt rock songs. I actually like butt rock, I admit it’s a guilty pleasure of mine but I also don’t think it’s bad music, it’s just loud rock that’s catchy for the radio, it’s not supposed to be deep. It’s the hard rock equivalent of pop music. My problem however is that a lot of these buttrock songs they did sound exactly the same. Like the last two track listening to them back to back sound like the same song, and even a lot of the other buttrock type songs on my repeated listens I would expect a part from a different song to come up because they all sound too similar. The songs that really ended up standing out to me were really just the singles and then theater of cruelty and maybe drone for the riffs and the chorus

I think taylor and jack don't get very critical with their work and specially jack makes me feel like he just do whatever taylor wants and praice every decision while he takes the check

A small thing to point out : David Tibet is a devout christian although he is usually described as a gnostic christian & a heretic. There is an interview on the subject matter which I highly recommend
