These are perspectives coming from someone who grew up in Fukuoka Japan, moved to LA 15 years ago. Pros of living in Japan: Safe, clean, great customer service, people are on time, nice and polite, food is amazing, best healthcare & education system Cons of living in Japan: it feels like you’re constantly being judged, rains so much, HR doesn’t really exist, you work like a slave but don’t make much I think Japan is a great country to visit but unless you are ok with non existent individualism, you might feel suffocated living there.

I think a random Japanese in the US is less likely to offend those around him/her than a random US person in Japan. I'd rather live in a culture less likely to take offense.

This looks like the Japanese counterpart to The Pinball Hall Of Fame (Las Vegas, Nevada) and The Galloping Ghost Arcade (Chicago Illinois). 🕹

I watched a video from a japanese girl living in italy that actually in Japan women get fired when they get pregnant. Not exactly quit.... I am surprised that in a modern country this happens.

Why would anyone take on a five hour round trip to work? That would depress anyone. I wonder what the story was there.

small talk in other countries is “their rules” so if you don't engage properly, people will avoid you. oh wait, that's what you said about Japanese people. facial hair: if you need a job then fine; since I have FU money, then I can dress and look how I want. Also Japanese have a lot more facial hair than other countries here in Asia.

I've long felt it horribly unfortunate that Japan's popular image on the world stage is so heavily rooted in anime, given I suspect people believe if they watch enough anime they come to believe they have they some understanding of Japan, which is rather like believing one can understand America solely by watching enough superhero movies and porn. Worse still, they seem to think they belong more in Japan than in the West; it must be a terrible disappointment if they ever do go to Japan and learn that Japan isn't this (literal) cartoon but the same sort of complex, living, breathing place full of human beings as everywhere else. An inverted "Paris syndrome", I suppose. I imagine what might be difficult for some Westerners is actually in practice the politeness that they praise so much. I was raised in English middle-class society where we also really try and avoid straight answers and work by implication much like the Japanese, but even I found it it a bit nerve-wracking never really knowing where I stood with Japanese people given it's an entirely different set of subtle cues and signals to infer what people really mean (except old people, who can be *painfully* honest). I would imagine for Americans they might find it infuriating that nobody ever seems to just say what they think, or they find out that they've been annoying everyone but nobody's been saying a word.

Holy shit, leftist that sole ticket is to go to japan is to know english and teach it, hate the conservative culture of japan that has made japan what they like, and instead of assimilate themselves into the culture, they try to (failing, of course) make it the way it is on the place they left, no surprises there, no sir!

GREAT VIDEO! I have 2 questions since i will come to Osaka with my 6 years old boy in August. 1. what time normally toy shops closed in den den town osaka? I might go after my son goes to bed 2. is it okay to explore shops with 6 years old kid in den den town? I am afraid some shops have restriction (due to pornography) thank you so much

When I am in Russia to visit my family, the public toilets are even worse. You can find outside a small cabin (sometimes made out of wood.) with a literal hole in the floor, which is mostly filled with trash or whatever and no toilet paper also. So if I survived that, the old Japanese toilets sound quite nice to me.

The only people that have problems are immature people that are probably young amd their parents pampered them their entire life. I know hundreds of mature people that moved there and love it still to this day 20 years later.... if you are a mature adult u will have no problem...

I am guessing the point is more like this. It is ok to be a tourist, but a lot of places simply don't provide similar rights int society as natives (of that land). So I heard about these things from Serpentza in China. China is nowhere you ever want to try to live in.

Japanese people are too cute! My friend and I (who know a small amount of Japanese) were at a subway station actually trying to find food. A woman approached us and asked if she could help us if we were lost; we told her we were looking for food and she was like "oh ok" then tried to point to some food. Another man thought we were lost another time and also wanted to assist.
