Yes, much better layout of the studio space. RockBros products are staples here in the US, always well made and reasonably priced.

Great video, i ride both dura ace di2 and latest ultegra mechanical. The di2 is fun and smooth especially when in a steep climb. But i suffer from dead battery anxiety. The ultegra group set is excellent but as you point out under load its just a bit marginally slower to complete the shift. But oh so marginal

This isn't about "electronic" shifting, it's about "Di2" shifting. SRAM's "etap axs" shifting eliminates many/most of your objections. One other thing... Those who say they've never had a mechanical cable break are either a) not riding very much, or b) lying.

The RapiLock system is similar to what Pinarello uses on their bikes. I have never understood why you would want to run anything different from a system like this. If my stock Pinarello axels ever need replacing, these will absolutely be what I go with.

The RockBros handlebar lock actually looks fantastically useful. Clearly designed for a coffee stop where the main thing is to stop someone being able to just walk off with the bike. BUT: does it rattle in the bar? Especially on gravel/rough roads?
@tomconway6808
@tomconway6808 3 дні тому
If it does rattle you could probably get some of that internal cable housing foam sleeve to put on the cable.

Some new bikes are available with electronic shifting only. So there is not really a choice. Also, if you get a bike with a leasing model like „lease a bike“ or any other bike leasing service connected with your employer, you sometimes have to choose the premium service package that often comes with the best insurance option (also sometimes no choice here as well to get a cheaper option with less service) Also here, it’s no problem to get electric shifting because if something gets broken, the service is already covered. If you just privately buy a bike and also have the option between mechanical and electronic it’s probably most suitable (financially) to go with mechanical.

How you supposed to torque the thru axle
@ribblevalleycyclist
@ribblevalleycyclist 3 дні тому
How would you torque and lever style thru-axle? You don't need to, just use common sense. But if you feel you need to, the RapiLock is 6-8Nm, it says it on the side.

Regard the Gorrila brake pads, Usable brake pad material appears less, due to lip of the holder compared to a brake pad on a flat surface. Can you address?
@ribblevalleycyclist
@ribblevalleycyclist 3 дні тому
That is a fantastic point Ram, and was a real pain in the ar$e to answer, as I needed to take them back off the bike 😂😂😂😂 According to Shimano, a Shimano pad has a 2mm deep braking shoe (See Shimano link below). A Gorilla NRS ONE pads shoe stands proud of that metal edge by 1.99mm HOWEVER!!!!!! The Shimano pad requires a pad spring, which takes 0.48mm away from the Shimano’s overall usable shoe depth, taking its usable thickness down to 1.52mm So to conclude, in real world use, the Gorilla pad is 0.49mm ……. Or 25% thicker. bike.shimano.com/en-EU/service-upgradeparts/service-tips.html

The axle product seems a good idea. I bought a planetx frame which didn’t have a rear axle. I spotted that Ribble bikes sold the axle but they wouldn’t sell me one as I didn’t have one of their bikes. Managed to get one from planetx in the end. So for that reason I could see it being helpful. It’s also the reason I will never own a ribble bike and they missed out on my last two bike purchases.

This thru axle thing feels like too much faff. And it's not really all that light. Just measure your old axle and order exactly the same but without any locking attachement. Even when riding without multitool surely place for a single small allen key can be found.

Doing the Ribble Valley Ride Expert route, I've done over 100 miles before but never 1900m of climbing. It was boiling last year when I did the 50 and the climb out of Malham was an absolute killer. Trying this year to fuel a bit better (mainly carb loading, sugar water rather than pure caffeine last year). I just wish the gpx files were out so I could plan a bit better.
@ribblevalleycyclist
@ribblevalleycyclist 4 дні тому
Hi Chris, They don't like to upload the GPX file, just in case they need to change the route last minute. Just had a look at their very basic route. Pretty sure I can work out the basics of it..... here you go: Will be pretty flat from Clitheroe to Gargrave (Where you cross the A65). Then up over Malham Tarn (BIG!!). Over to Stainforth, and then down into Settle. Out to Rathmell, then Wigglesworth, then Tosside. Then Tossed to Slaidburn. Dunlop Bridge. All of that Wigglesworth to Dunsop bit is lumpy! Then Dunlop Bridge to Chipping. And then back to Clitheroe. All of those villages should help you plan a pretty good representation of the route. Hope that helps. Jon

Great channel. I love it. For a bolt do I need any special grease to prevent galvanization corosion?
@ribblevalleycyclist
@ribblevalleycyclist 4 дні тому
Glad you like it. If it's normal nuts/bolts exposed to the elements, then yes. However, on the braking system, don't use grease on the bleed nipples or ports, as it may contaminate the system. Oh, and the best thing to use to prevent galvanic corrosion is Copper Grease. I use this one: amzn.to/3QhD4vc Thanks, Jon
@zblojko
@zblojko 4 дні тому
@@ribblevalleycyclist Thanks for your answer. I have Shimano GRX brakes. Some say that bolt is already protected from galvanic protection, and it is no need to use grease. Others say that any grease is ok, I heard also that some use litium grease.... It is little confuse for begginer as I am. What is your opinion? Thanks.
