The only thing I know is the creator basically made my ocs unintentionally n this is the closest my ocs r gonna get on screen 🤣🤣🤣 I didn't mind it, I watched it here n there, I was just like, well damn the character of SheZow(hero form) looks like me also a bit, along with Guy's sis, so I stuck around for that 😅🤣🤣

I use to frequent the Neurotically Yours website back in the day. I was introduce when I was between 15 and 16, and as cringe as it is to admit it, it was a big part of my childhood and really influenced my non-conformist beliefs both back then and now. A lot of the old rants have aged like milk (I genuinely disagree with his view on drugs now) but even so, I still look back on those crispy animations fondly, not just for nostalgia, but for the simple fact that they became a refuge for teenagers who growing up in genuinely terrible living situations. myself included. also, weird to see an overview on Foamy. I had a dream the other night where the creator released a teaser for a Foamy the Squirrel 3d platformer

I didn't know Foamy was still going on, but I did watch it way back when as a kid. XD I thought it was humorous, but I also didn't care too much for Foamy the Squirrel, as he seemed kinda too much like a mixture of GiR and Dib, while I was always more interested in characters like Gaz and Zim, if we had to compare.

God Foamy used to be my life! Somehow I've managed to escape it being rather optimistic. But I had to drop the series after the creator began to compare AI art to digital art and I just lost all respect for him. Mind you I stopped watching around like....when the new characters were being introduced and I barely remember a lot of what the show even had. But looking back on it, there was so much wrong with it lmao. I did enjoy it for the time however.

I watched these shorts early on and tbh, i had no idea it was still going on. I dropped off because of the Germaine "boob expansion" arc. I couldn't fully understand why at the time, it just made me uncomfortable. Like the creators fetish or smth. Now i realize it was a sort of precursor to the jingle keys "pussy in bio" brainrot used to farm engagement now.

Foamy was enjoyable insofar as its "short-form hyper-animation". But, as with most of the 'edgy teen humor' of the Early-00's like South Park and Family Guy, my parents (particularly my dad)...the simplest term would be "hyper-fixated on". When we would visit family in Pennsylvania or go on weekend trips to one of the further malls, my dad would frequently already have a Foamy CD in the car's CD player. It doesn't help that a lot of that same 'talking-head' punditry/points-being-made focused on the Fox News 'Libertarian/Republican' understanding of "Fair and Balanced" where it takes off-the-cuff pot-shots without caring to look into the issues, all for the sake of appearing "Intellectual". And Foamy arguably had the most off-the-cuff takes, because of its couple-minutes-per-monologue structure. So, of course, after my parents moved to Texas while my brothers and I were in college, I stopped watching and listening to pretty much all Foamy content... because by that point, early 2010's, it was all just the same bs ramblings. ---- On top of that, the idea that Foamy and its creator are distinct didn't really cross my mind. There might have been some time-period where I did think that for a couple seconds, given how Foamy's ADHD-esque demeanor is essential to his comedic presentation... but when you've spent a decade with the same character saying the same stupid ignorant incendiary things dozens of times...yeah, nah. It makes the character seem less like a character and more like a soapbox.

I have a DVD of Foamy's collection from a local record store, and idk if it was just me in 2019 but I can't for the life of me find any humor in Foamy, a lot of it was punching down. I think there was a terrorist joke that left a bad taste in me? (Edit: Omg watching the video more YES it's that stereotype!) I guess it was just a sign of the early 00s whereas by late 2010s/early2020s this kind of edgy humor got old to me real fast and why I latched onto crass but optimistic humor like Smiling Friends like a moth to a lamp. I needed edgy humor that was different. All of Foamy's rants remind me of the super toxic side of Vampirefreaks where there's places for doomer dudes over 30 ranting about everyone and everything.

I used to watch Foamy all the time, and I remember teenage me mostly liking it. But more importantly, there really was nothing else like it back in the day. Content was really a bottleneck back then. There weren't that many internet celebrities back then since very few people had the resources or time to do almost daily uploads to Newgrounds or UKposts in those days. However, as time went by I grew more skeptical with Foamy and his rants, especially the ones about mental health. It got to the point where he straight-up told people to not take anti-depressant drugs because it was "unnatural." The final straw came days after Charlottesville where Foamy went on this extremely nihilistic rant about how actually all people are bad and bunch other pseudo intellectual garbage. Looking back on 2000's internet culture, there's a ton of cynicism, bitterness, and meanness that defines a whole lot of it. Content like that is still around, but I'm not a teenager anymore, and I've outgrown it. Foamy is basically content for an era that doesn't exist anymore.

Watched Foamy as a teen and enjoyed the rant videos the most, but later on I just grew up and Foamy didn't. Last video I remember watching was a fantasy themed one, and then turned to look at other stuff that was new and something different. But even if I disagree with some of the creator's opinions today, I am glad they are still at least creating something even if it is not something I as an adult am interested in.

I remember my groomer introducing me to Foamy when I was 14. I didn't really understand most of it but thought it was funny because of the grumpy squirrel and the silly voice, but I remember feeling weird about the female character in it. The way she was drawn was creepy to me. I stopped watching Foamy after being separated from the guy who introduced me to it (thank God for overprotective parents who maybe weren't so overprotective in that situation ngl) but about a year ago I rediscovered Foamy on UKposts and was like omg I remember this, I can't breathe it's still going! But after watching the suggested video it just... wasn't funny. The guy writing it just seems mad at everyone for living. Idk. It made me reflect on those early teenage years and wonder why I ever found it funny in the first place. I guess it was because Foamy was kind of like the groomer, a grumpy cussing jerk. Idk. Foamy is part of a weird time for my life. But I'm pretty happy to leave him in the past. My favorite character was Pill-Z who had some songs about getting away from reality using pills. I thought it was hilarious and I still have the lyrics of that one video memorized... but strangely I didn't fully understand what it was actually about. I didn't know what it meant to get high, or to @buse prescription medication. I was really innocent and naive, and my groomer told me one of the rules of the internet was that "the more pure and innocent something is, the more satisfying it is to corrupt it" and I think Foamy was part of his attempts to corrupt me over time. Crazy to think about now, all these years later...

I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that Jim has been banished from Newgrounds. He recently began using AI artwork for some of his new foamy cartoons(and once again, he changed the style for this too). Except nobody on Newgrounds took this well. He began using AI on the short August 4th of 2023, it wasn't noticeable at first. Except it became quite noticeable in some of the later stuff that he produced for Newgrounds, along with using AI to promote some of the stuff he creates. The last straw for him being on Newgrounds was with the short 'Car', and NOBODY was having any of it of Jim using AI for the backgrounds in his cartoons. As of writing. Jim hasn't uploaded anything new onto Newgrounds because of this, he's mostly posting his stuff on youtube since youtube doesn't care if someone uses AI or not. Content is content to the mindset of the people who run youtube. If you think about it. Jim used Foamy as a way to speak out about the world problems(as well as addressing some bad business practices) except now he became a shell of his former self as an artist to speak out for the little guy since he is now using AI for his backgrounds rather than actually hiring someone to make them, and to any artist, that's insulting. If I would give advice to Jim I would do this. Reset your mentality since health always comes first. Figure out WHAT made Foamy great in the first place, get with the times that the edgelord teenagers that you were entertaining are now in their 30s. And get rid of AI altogether and if you dont want to draw backgrounds, PAY SOMEBODY to do em. There are a SHITLOAD of people who would gladly work for you for a reasonable price to do simple backgrounds just for a either a minute or a two minute skit with Foamy.

There's a reason the resurgence never happened and why all we have now is 'safe edgy'. Psycho keyboard warriors will ruin the lives of anyone they disagree with. It doesn't matter what their politics are. No one could afford to lose whatever job they had during the pandemic. If an animator has to worry about punching down, not being fatphobic, and towing the line -is it actually edgy?

The edgy humor of the early '00s definitely went way too far at times - sometimes deliberately - and that was part of the attraction. There was an allure in going "too far" and making people mad in the comparatively sanitized post-'90s world. I think that Foamy's rants are not meant to be taken at face value, but are more exaggerated versions of things that Mathers has thought; they're not necessarily things that he deeply believes. In the South Park era, pushing a satirical idea to its extreme could get your audience thinking about things in a different way, even if they don't necessarily agree with the perspective. But now, it's gotten old. Whatever you want to rant about, people have heard it before, they already know what you're going to say, and swearing a lot while you're saying it isn't going to surprise anyone. What's more, they've already decided whether or not they agree with it, and how it fits into their worldview. You're not going to succeed in making content in that genre unless you can be really clever about it, and even then, you'll probably be painted as an enemy by one side of the hyper-polarized online landscape.

Idk I feel like splitting Bakugan into two different games that use the same pieces might work. But like more dedicated to it then what they did in gen 2. For example, if gate cards are now territory and now the elements clans, run with that for the more adult targeted version and go for something like settlers of Catan of even a full blow 4x game. Maybe have a digital tie in version with codes like way back in gen 1.

I'm 39. I was born in 1985. I graduated high school in 2003. I grew up during the 90s, and was a teenager in the late 90's/early 2000's. My little black goth heart LOVED (and I still love) Hot Topic. I spent just about every weekend in my teens at the mall (prior to the Hot Topic website and online ordering) and going to Hot Topic. I bought and still have the JTHM and Squee comic books by Jhonen Vasquez. I didn't buy the individual ones. I bough the Complete Edition ones, and I just recently got the Complete Edition of all the Filler Bunny comics he did. I also loved Foamy the Squirrel, but this was back in the day, when I would be on Vampire Freaks. That was the Foamy I loved. Eventually, it just got old and just didn't really have a narrative, like you were talking about. JTHM and Squee though? Amazing narrative and very, very meta, and absolutely hilarious. Fun fact: My online screen name, Myra, came from a magazine I read when I was 16 at Hot Topic (Gothic Beauty). I saw a model, and her name was Vladimira, and I loved the name, so I adopted it as my online screen name, and I've used some variation of Vladimira/Vladimyra/Myra ever since. Lol.

I found Foamy in the later rebooted HD seasons and got interested. As edgy, nihilistic, and insane it can be, I have taken some bits from it to try and better myself and see the world is beautiful, it’s just people who suck. And that mental growth takes actual effort, not depending on someone to answer everything for you. How you may be going through things and there are people out there who can relate and provide ways to help. Don’t make your race, religion, gender, etc your entire personality. I know the series isn’t aiming to teach a lesson. I just learned some things from some of the episodes. I kinda stopped keeping a consistent watch after the HD series. Germain is just miserable and doesn’t do anything to the point Foamy got tired of her. It also became confusing after the reboot and that the HD series was part of Germain’s made up story to fake insanity to avoid being punished for m*rder. It became miserable and the rants became Foamy b*tching about almost everything. I don’t find Foamy narcissistic, he just b*tches. There was even a bit with Pum’kin Guy just calling out Foamy for being a know it all. I still enjoy Foamy and watch some of the new episodes.
