Great tunes, shame about the synth strings, budget constraint I'm sure but it sounds like a warcraft 2 cutscene. The real bummer is that dull 80s drum sound, this was 96 why are the drums so echoey and edgeless?

"I'm sorry mister latimer, it seems last night phil Collins entered the studio and security failed to prevent him pouring nacho cheese on to the toms and snare."

That's why I wanted to write my own thoughts in the comments about an album I've listened to hundreds of times. I've seen this album many places on UKposts and wanted to copy this review under every album I see. May God bless whoever shared this much. I cannot listen to many songs that have been listened to billions of times on UKposts until the end. I really can't listen. But at the same time, I can't stop listening to this album. This has become my routine habit. I would like to express my endless gratitude to everyone who has the album on UKposts and of course to Camel. My native tongue is Turkish. That's why I got help from translate. I would like to hear your suggestions for possible translation errors. Apart from that, I would like to hear your opinions in addition to the parts I wrote. Please mention this in the comments. Long live camel brotherhood. I wish good health to Latimer and hopefully we will meet you at a camel concert... 00:00 - Irish Air (Traditional Gaelic): In this quiet place I stand alone, From my homeland far away. And my empty heart cannot recall, The forgotten dreams that brought me joy Had I ways to shed the wasted years, I would travel to my kin. And with strength and faith in God above, There in Ireland I would gladly die 02:54 - Harbour Of Tears: I am one of seven brothers Five of us must leave and start again In this land of saints and martyrs Tears of sadness hide within the rain So fare thee well Remember me Sail from the Harbour of Tearss I can hear my father calling (I am a farmer of the land, I'm not a man of words) "Godspeed, my son wherever you may go" (Forgive me my failing, you never knew me) He looked so small down on the quayside (Godspeed wherever you may go) A man I guess I'll never really know So fare thee well Remember me Sail from the Harbour of Tears ((and listening to this magic, sounds like leaving ship from harbour and ship horning.)) 06:07 - Cóbh ((The music of leaving a small town in Ireland. It reminds us of the brave men in the middle of the ocean who had to go abroad and had been prepared to struggle.)) 06:58 - Send Home The Slates: I work for the Union Pike Out on the Western Line I found Uncle Sean in Denver And he and his wife are fine They send their best And like the rest They send home the slates It took six months from the Cobh Another six by land But the pay is good And as I should I'll send home the slates. ((6 months after leaving the port of Cobh, relation to the struggle to survive for very little pay... The music playing while this was happening, reminded me of a Modern Times movie. Some tasks that are tried to be made fun by the music but are actually tiring.)) Back on your feet now, lads Our time for writing home has passed Six miles to spike today That's what we need Fast, lads, we must advance Work to the Gandy dance Six days to double pay That's our reward But not till the line goes down. ((And Attention this ironic metal bend. like glory but misery. These guitar bends are one of the king of history of the rock music structure all.)) I'll not send empty letters I know you need the rent Dad, you deserve a new pair of boots I know it's money well spent So kind regards I'll work hard to send home the slates (following words are destruction!!! Really destruction and regarding to his emphasize on previously saying. Look at the impressiveness of this changing music. 10:19 )) PS. Dear Ma I send my picture Don't let the family forget me. 11:21 - Under The Moon This perhaps refers to a short time of rest after a hard day, during which one can remember what they have left behind. A short rest time to think and refresh memories. He watches the moon because there are people looking at the same moon from far away... 12:37 - Watching The Bobbins (Back to modern times again. Trying to hold on to life in order to earn a penny. Hands turning into machines to be a hope for himself and especially his family. There is no soul, thinking is forbidden! Working for 10 hours just like a machine. Yes, just working like a machine... but still maintaining hope despite all this. This is what can keep him afloat!) Watching the bobbins, Go up and down. Fine Irish linen For a ladies gown. One shirt a penny, Seven in a tag; Ten hours a day And her heart begins to drag. This never ending cycle goes on. But she promised she would never stay... For long. Rocking the treadle, Ache in her soul. She keeps the rhythm And it takes a toll. Threading the needle, Strains in her eyes. Old withered fingers Steal her young girl's pride She's saving every penny she earns, Because the passion for her freedom Still burns. 15:37 (hey! Is there actually a guitar on fire here? Listen to these pitch bend and also slide goddesses. If Jimmy Hendrix had listened to this, he would probably have created a whole new style.!) This must also be an expression of the pain of longing. This goes on like the guitar reciting some kind of poetry. Various silences, bends and some guitar-specific things, but their timing is unique to Latimer. 16:57 Finally, this enthusiasm is accompanied by bass and drums. 17:12 In a British phrase, to those who criticize this album for its drum infrastructure; 'Don't burn your brigdes behind you' he calls out. 19:51 - Generations After all the screaming, we deserved a little rest. This music comes into play right here and sheds light on the direction those on the road should go. Can we say that Vivaldi will not like it? (It is at this point that he appeals to those who are just starting out; Saying 'listen now boys'... It's as if he's going to the future here and calling out to the past. He tells about his troubles and gives advice to the next generation. he tells us that they should learn from the past and that they will be the new eyes of Ireland. She tells them to never forget and to leave when necessary. just like their own. A great acoustic guitar song.) ; 20:53 - Eyes Of Ireland Listen now boys, My grandmother said - I'll tell you a story and Then off to bed. There once was a time, We lived off the land. Harvest would come, And we all lent a hand But winds blew our lives, And scattered our seeds. Changing the landscape, From flowers to weeds. See in the graveyard The families gone. The grandest of tombstones Carry them on... When you sail from the Harbour, It's your last eyes of Ireland. We tended the fire, And faeries appeased The flame never died Until we had to leave. And when we were gone, The house tumbled down And covered our footprints, We'd left on the ground. When you sail from the Harbour, It's your last eyes of Ireland. My eyes are now tired And no longer see. But visions of Ireland Linger in me. So carry your past In the rooms of your heart And you'll never he empty Of love when you part When you sail from the Harbour, It's your last eyes of Ireland. 29:23 - End Of The Day ((At the end of the day I still miss the old (the beautiful one), like missing your dream.)) Searching for fragments of old yesterday I stand at the edge of my childhood to find I long for the shadows that danced at the end of the day... 31:52 - Coming Of Age (( This harsh entrance of the string group is just as magnificent as the orchestra. just like the harsh magnificence of man when he reaches maturity. Here we must devote ourselves to music.)) 32:09 ((The phrase 'coming of age' refers to a period in which a person shows his most mature performance. So, can we think that we are approaching the end from this part? I think this is one of the best intros to this album. A great tone choice mixed with pre-bending and vibrato and a line that only a talented person could think of.)) 32:24 Look at the gangsta intro from a few seconds ago and notice where it connects now.! How many people in the world can do this changhing ? A very catchy composition. 32:35 Now it's back to the beginning again… 33:16 I don't have clear information on how these were done, but if it were tried to be done on a guitar, it would be turned on and off using the volume key, and at the end a sound that is not like this would be obtained :) What I will say is; This masterpiece continues its wonderful transitions here as well. 33:49 an another changhing here! 34:19 one more… 34:48 a convective solo… 35:35 wht the fck is that? Add one more… 36:25 it's changing again. It seems that what I was trying to say before is done with the volume button, here is done again here. 36:48 oh my god what is this! Is this a bit like 'banjo rolling' or 'chicken picking' tecniques in tecniques of the guitar playing ? i have no idea about this. But there is one thing I am sure of, these guys know music very well. Moreover, and most importantly, they are incredibly emotional. 37:17 one more… 37:44 Even though they're not gangsters, these guys have mastered hard music. please Listen to the harshness of the music. 38:10 returning to back. Finally, This is a beyond magnificent masterpiece. This song is full of songs containing dozens of songs. This suits the name of the song very well. Yes, humans are creatures that contain dozens, even millions of emotions and are constantly changing. According to this logic, even a song is not considered enough to describe a person. But this song, as a song, will forever remain a tremendous value that will leave its mark on human history… 39:14 - The Hour Candle Of course, it started as perfectly as a song written for the father.

Track 6 "Under the moon" is sensational. This is the kind playing that makes us all reach for our hankies. Just before RAH Camel did Bath Forum. Better than RAH and so many tears that night.

Loved these guys since I first heard them back when I was in my 20's. I was originally inspired to play guitar by the likes of The Beatles and grew as a musician when I first heard prog Rock. Never looked back.

As an Irish person who has been checking out the Camel discography online, this is quite a surprise. I was hoping to discover a Camel compilation that included the tracks I liked on Stationary Traveller, and instead I hear Andy Latimer going the full Irish blues. I repeat: quite a surprise. On Amazon this cd appears with a "made in England" sticker on it, lol.

Появление такого яркого звука электро-гитары потрясло меня, но я бы не сказал, что Camel вошли тогда в какую-то новую эру. Флейта осталась, звучание, атмосфера схожи с прошлым группы. Очень круто

Did you mean the hidden track after 'The Hour Candle?'. Indeed I don't have it but you can find it here : ukposts.info/have/v-deo/fKGqi4ajfJeTyps.html There is also an alternative version of 'Irish Air'. I've only known Camel for a short time, so I only know their albums from the internet, so I've never noticed these errors until now. By the way I am sorry for my poor english.

@@tortenessen No, that other one is playlist, that haven´t got for some reason "Coming Of Age" & "the Hour Candle" at all! I listened that first, but then found your downloading with those songs! First time I also listened these later Camel albums, this band hasn´t been my biggest favorites.
