I dont get the experimemt in 11:40... How the hell electric field wave is 2d? I just cant imagine visuslly it... With sound waves its easy to visualise that because it goes out like a sphere. On videos of shock wave it can be seen nicely. I thought light can be visualised similarly but it looks like its completely different.

Interesting demonstrations, thank the physics gods someone had the forethought to record it! The intro leads me to hope there might be one or two more topics covered. ❤

Young split his beam with paper. This experiment is still inexplicable.

Maybe not the most charismatic gentleman but I do love all the demos! Helps the simple mind (like my own) grasp these abstract phenomena.

What a wonderful career. Helping others "to understand"... 500 good human points awarded - posthumously I wish I was better at math & engineering. I wasn't so I had to settle for working at Boeing

This guy is Sir William Bragg, look him up, see what a brilliant mind he had, and a wonderful fun guy his daughter reports. DNA, he didn’t discover it but his research led the way

Wooooow What would we do without 'men'?!? haha ..I don't know one school system today that would offer an even similar education to what these kids received. Humanity as a whole must be at it's pinacol of stupidity.

15:29 Anybody knows how far left or right you can go before the receiver stops altogether? How wide is the range of the em waves at the distance Bragg is at?
@anomalyp8584
@anomalyp8584 4 місяці тому
What I don't understand though is that an electric field is limited in range, the force charges experience within that field diminish with the distance to the source charge. How is moving that source charge then able to emit it's 'field' outside its own boundaries...

My guess: he emits a low energy EM beam, but is able to make a higher energy EM beam (turning on the light bulb) because the energy transmitted is concentrated into the small wire/resistance?

dayyyyyuuuuuuum, waves are waves after all! This is cool, maybe Im bias as I already knew most of it but dang I didn't know all these stuff. It's my first time seing that in action aside from visible light!

These are great demonstrations and explanations of wave behaviour by a wonderful (Australian) scientist. The 1959 "Similarities in Wave Behaviour" lecture by John Shive from Bell Labs is another piece of the jigsaw puzzle towards understanding the nature of waves along a transmission medium, Check it out: ukposts.info/have/v-deo/fJ-nqaSGr6KKkp8.html

Replace the beam with any object, and you will see that the vertical mirror shows a different aspect than what we can see directly. We are looking at two different sides of the water illuminated by the beam. Just like we would look directly at the face of a person, while the mirror shows us their back, or the top of their head. There are no vertical or horizontal rays, or whatever, in this experiment.

Thomas Young did not do the double slit experiment. Why are so many people saying that he did, even the Royal Institution and a knighted person?? Thomas Young allowed light through a pinhole but placed a piece of thin card into the beam of light to split it and noticed a pattern on the screen. In no way does it prove light is a wave!!

Electricity is not produced by magnetism. Mechanical power is used to move a magnet within a coil of wire, and that induces an electrical charge to travel via a conductor. That transmitted power can be converted back into mechanical power at the other end.

Is it possible that magnetic field is disturbance of ether? To me sounds like when a charge is moving its like a jet moving in air and causing circular waves around it. Maybe there is ether that is being disturbed by a moving charge creating waves?
