Very nice job! Even though it's not what I use for listening, I still have a soft spot for those old school designs like this. I'm currently collecting parts to build replicas of the Altec Model Nineteen studio monitors but even though I do have a table saw and a CNC, I'm a little worried about getting clean enough miter cuts. The plan is to use MDF with the veneer already on it but any glitch at all in the miter cuts will mess this up. Thing is, I've heard that getting veneer to look good isn't very easy either but you definitely made it look easy. So I'm not sure if I should use raw MDF and veneer it or try to get clean miter cuts on veneered MDF. It's going to be quite a project, the eBay acquired woofers will need new cones and none of the aftermarket cone rebuild kits are quite correct. One issue is the vented dust cap, I basically have to make them. I have a source for caps with the vent cut and no screen and a different source for the correct screen so I have to put the two together. I found a pair of dividing networks in Japan but probably won't use them. Instead I plan to machine the face plates on the CNC, get them anodized and make the Altec logo skins for them on the laser etcher. The crossover itself is relatively simple assuming I can find the correct L-Pads. I wish I had your skills, even with the CNC etc I don't think I can make cabinets that look as good as you did with the project in this video. Normally I'm not too worried about cosmetics but for these Model Nineteen replicas I want them to look good. Any tips on whether to use veneered MDF and just be really careful cutting the miters or use raw MDF and put the veneer on after?

Hi, I am not a speaker builder, but I always wondered why people don't cut panels openings for drivers and terminal panel first? If you make mistake you only wasted one board instead of already glued speaker box. At least he cuts drivers openings before gluing, but then cuts terminal panel opening after gluing the back panel. Why?

I don't understand why you made a port. A voigt pipe is essentially a horn design and all you did was turn it into a typical ported enclosure, essentially eliminating the horn after you made it.

Hi, thank you for the good video. I always love full range driver speaker (especially with passive bass radiator since it's sealed from dust getting inside) but it's really hard to find unless you custom made. Can i plug the speaker with amp like marantz NR1200?

Did you consider going with a mirrored pair? My friend, who had two speaker companies, built them that way. He would put a foam gasket around the edge of the drivers when installing them to make them airtight and help prevent any buzzing of the cabinet. He held twp U.S. patents on speaker design.

Is it possible to make a home cimea setup one by one with different set of drivers and enclosures? Eg the driver will be different in the center then in the side channels. I do t want to splurge for a full setup so starting with a 2.0 or 2.1 diy approach seems to be reasobale to me.

Good day I like the design very much, congrats on it and how you built it. just wondering how they sound. analytical and crispy , clear highs, bass fundamental (knowing that the size cannot go very deep). How is the virtual scene, can I close my eyes and see all instruments in the orchestra? are they comparable to high end (like B W)? apologize for all those questions but UKposts does not transfer high end sound and in my case the speakers sound bubbly and not detailed which is for sure definitely not the case in real. also wondering about the costs for buying the wood plus carpenter. many thanks, you inspired my day. best peter

I like all of your builds, straight forward and nice woodworking. However, I suggest you use other screws. The builds are so nice, but the screws are "screwing you over" on the looks :) Attention to detail. There are black socket head screws wich are self tapping, os simply machine screws with thread inserts. That would elevate your builds a lot :) Also I have one question. Would the Arylic work also as 1 amp per box? To power mid and tweet with one plate amp and then feed the other the same signal? I have Hypex plate amps, but for a smaller build the Arylic would be fun. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Hello. I'm looking at doing a similar thing with the SB Acoustic 5" coax. It's for my camper where space is tight in the back area. I'll have a sub in there but i still need kick bass from the 5" and thought about using passive radiators to allow for a smaller enclosure. SB Acoustic do a radiator to use with the coax, it's the same size. I don't know whether to use this or the race track. I read that the radiator should have larger area than the driver. I could use two 5" radiators i suppose, even two racetracks on the sides but it's all guess work at this point. How do you select parts or calculate enclosure size or port size?

The problem with ports is in small boxes they have to be long and/or skinny to play low because air is so light. If you listened in an Argon atmosphere perhaps you could have sensible port dimensions, but seeing as you want to breathe, passive radiators are good being heavy enough to resonate down low.

Just curious, would you consider trying to build these with a double radiator setup with two woofers? Just to get some more low frequency response from the speakers? Or do you think that would be useless? It is something I am considering building. I have no experience with using passive radiator though.
