How did I not know about this? I grew up in the 70s watching baseball.. and I don't remember ever hearing about this. This is the craziest shit I've ever seen! Hilarious! 😂

I was at this game. I was 13 years old. Gary Pettis was my favorite player. Just an amazing catch. Against the Blue Jay's & the batter was Jesse Barfield. Should be ranked as one of the best robbed home runs!!!!!

Baseball is ruined. You can’t take out the 2nd baseman with a slide on a DP. You can’t throw inside to brush back a hitter. Time clocks on pitchers and hitters. You can’t shift infielders. If the team on the field is going to shift to the right for a left handed pull hitter, learn to hit to left field. The designated hitter is a dumb rule. It takes away a lot of strategy in later innings.

Number 2 has to be his catch on Von Hayes’ blooper to left. Von Hayes hit a broken bat blooper to short left field, no man’s land. Curt Ford comes racing in as Ozzie goes full speed out. Ford dives towards the infield and Ozzie dives towards the outfield and Ozzie snags the ball, literally over a diving Ford. I was at that game we couldn’t stop talking about it the rest of the night.

I don't think Russel intentionally drop the ball. However, that can be debated. If he did intend to drop it, he could've tagged Munson out first, and then touch second base for the double play. It's amazing how we are still debating something that took place when I was still in diapers.
