Why you do not recommend to turn off the main switch before smaller circuits
@winonfire567115 днів тому
Anyone can tell what is different between output side main switch and incoming tail . Thanks

Oh the Irony of this guy trying to teach us how to extend cables and then shows us using a crimping tool and crimps not designed to be used on solid core cables, when you have to educate the educator it is a sad day. In this particular instance an indent crimper is preferable and suitable crimp to match, stranded or fine stranded are suitable for the crimp tool and crimps he is showing as the wires easily form into the shape the crimp tool creates, a solid wire does not and often creates a poor crimp where the crimp itself is damaged or not formed properly.

Would be nice if there was a video showing how to extend the cables/repair outside of a socket (say a drilled cable) as that's not really covered much :(
@genome61625 днів тому
I would take caution to learning off youtube videos, the issue been even though a lot of the advice is good he actually is wrong in this video, that crimping tool and crimps are not to be used on solid core cable, they are suitable for stranded cores and thus he has demonstrated a method that can give a very poor joint.

As mentioned elsewhere needed to explain what double insulation entails. And whether inline crimped connectors need to be in a separate box or can be embedded in a plaster wall like normal cables. It matters aesthetically esp as raising sockets higher in a listed property.

Why do you omit the inclusion of 3 phase circuits in the domestic variant course?

Im conflicted with using butt crimps on solid conductors. They do make a good join if crimped correctly however they’re better suited for stranded conductors. In domestic work it’s probably fine but on ships or aircraft’s for example they could become loose overtime from vibration. Then again these installations probably use stranded cables to allow for movement

Great tip will try this, another way is to use side cutters open them up and bite the head of the screw hold tight and twist worked many times for me

After u fitted the connector you mentioned the cable needs to be doubley insulated? Can you explain what that means please

I believe he means heat shrinks. But would’ve been ideal for C&G to demonstrate it to remove any doubts.

It might be good to actually verify that grounds on both terminals are connected to each other. There area some socket models that are not :S

Why are there two cables going into the switch-box? Is one cable not sufficient for the two switches?
@IAmThe_RA8 місяців тому
Another cable is going to the next socket.

Personally I do not bend bare copper wire over . I have opened wall sockets that have been in use for several years and found the bent wire broken and it just falls out of the terminal hole. Bending the wire back on itself creates a lot of stress on the copper which if it fractures could result in arcing inside the plug point.
@cag9284Рік тому
Isn't it good practice to bend the wire over?

good vid , 1 question - i qualified via jib apprentaship in 95 236 part 1-2 am2 , i dropped out of the game , 2023 recently i wanted to get back into the electrician game , i opened a ecs account and put my national insurance number in to the ecs site and they confirmed i was eligible for a gold card !! which i got , problem is i dont have any experience in the modern game and dont want to chance it , so i asked a few sparky people if i could go on site as an improver to slowly get back in the game, i was told that esc will strip me of the gold card if i do that , do you have a any info on this situation ?

This is the worst training place to attend, and the management is very poor, especially the teacher: Van is very arrogant, has no management skills, and rants every moment. He just wants the one-directional way of communication. Moreover, the Teacher, the so-called 'John, has no clue about delivering a course. I doubt if he has got teaching qualifications. I will leave it for #OFqul and #Intertrain should investigate it. Furthermore, John is a very racist and discriminatory person, as he will pick people of the same colour and give them time during practical sessions. I had my course this week and dropped it because of their unprofessional and unethical behaviour I don't recommend to anyone to waste your time. Don't ever go to this rubbish place
