My Shimano 2 trigger style has larger thumb triggers than pointer finger triggers. I wish I could reduce the deadzone freeplay in the thumb trigger. Is this possible? Bike is a 27.5 Diamondback Expresso in Canada. Shifter appears to be shimano ST-EF500-4 which says on it "v-brake" but the bike is discs.

It's complicated than I thought 😅

Found the rear derailleur was crooked and fixed the angle of the hanger, then proceeded to align. This video gave me all info I needed to understand my system. Thank you so much!

Not very helpful when they’re jumping to different kind of bike every section. Where is Calvin Jones? This man does it better than anyone.

Paid too much money to “professional” bike mechanics with no fix to my bike. Watched a couple of these park tool videos and my bike feels like a million bucks. I now have the tools for my self and the knowledge from this amazing instructor! Thank you! This guy deserves everything 💪💪

No. That should be the BBT-69.4. See www.parktool.com/en-us/category/crank-bottom-bracket/tool-finder

Needed this just to make sure it was right hand threaded. The free wheel was seized on with rust, a bash with a hammer got it unstuck.

An expesive wheel has tight spokes. A cheap wheel has not so tight spokes. That is why an expensive wheel has a long life. And the opposite with a cheap wheel. Conclusion: It is NOT the pretension of the spoke that will cause a spoke to fracture. It is the LACK of pretension that will cause a spoke to fracture. = fatique fracture. I am a machine engineer, and this lesson is a part of my study. When you design bolted connections you must verify that the bolts will NEVER break. Where is this critical ? A prime example is the bolted connection of the big bearing of a connecting rod in an ice engine. Those bolts are able to last the lifetime of an engine, without ever breaking.

IF BOTH DERAILER ARE NOT WORKING RIGHT, HOW TO CHANGE GEARS FOR REAR OR FRONT DERAILER. EXAMPLE, HE ASK THAT YOU CHANGE GEARS ON BACK DERAILER TO THE LOWEST SETTING WHILE ADJUSTING FRONT DERAILER, HOW THE HELL TO DO THAT WHEN ITS NOT ADJUSTED RIGHT. SO YOULL GO BACK AND FORTH WITH DERAILER TRYING TO ADJUST . MAKE IE MAKE SINCE OLD MAN, DAM!!~!
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
IF ANYONE GOT IT. MAKE A VID EXPLAINING, BETTER THAN THIS OLD FART
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
this has not helped. no mention of tightest on the cable when install. which derailer do you start with, both need adjusting. so start with front, but rear isnt adjust, how do yiu which geARS FOR EITHER WHEN ASKED TO IN THIS OLD MISS INFOEMED VID. OK, SO WORKING ON FRONT, BUT i HAVE TO WHICH GEARS ON BACK TO ADJUST FRONT, HUH!!!! THDE BACK DERAILER IS NOT ADJUST. SO WHAT NOW, BULLSHIT!!!!!

What do you do if the drive side crank won't come off? The spindle won't move at all.
@parktool2 дні тому
Use a mallet to coax the axle out.
@ronito4390День тому
@@parktool thanks, had tried that but didn't want to use excessive force with my rubber mallet and it wouldn't budge. Came out quite easily today once I gave the mallet a good swing it two.

YOU SAID SHIFT THE REAR TO THE LAST POSITION WHILE ADJUSTING THE FRONT, BUT THE REAR NEEDS ADJUSTING. NOW WHAT!?
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
WHICH ONE YOU START FIRST, THE REAR DERAILER OR THE FRONT??? BOTH NEED ATTENTION AND NOTHING IS SHIFTING CORRECTLY
@Silidons912 дні тому
I literally follow this EXACT steps, and the right side (crank side) brake lever is ALWAYS too tight. The centering thing does not work at all for me. It literally does nothing. The left side can be loose, it will still be too tight on the drive side. If I tighten the centering screws, it moves barely a mm. I've tried multiple different cable length and still no cigar.
@parktool2 дні тому
its possible the spring fell off the end of the screw inside the caliper. In that case you may need to remove it and repair the caliper or you will need a new set of calipers. There is also the possibility that the pivot has corroded and you need to remove the caliper to clean and lubricate the boss.
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
HOW TIGHT SHOULD THE FRONT DERAILER WIRE SHOULD BE BEFORE YOU START ANYTHING???
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
BEFOR YOU SET THE LIMIT SCREWS. HOW TIGHT SHOULD THE CABLE BE???
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
a vid thats needed, but better explanation needed. lots of questions. once you get the wire threaded. HOW TIGHT SHOULD IT BE BEFORE YOU ADJUST THE BARREL???
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
when you place the wire. how much tension before you adjust the barrel. i just put in a wire. now howe tight before I start adjusting everything???
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
thank you, the old man working there never mentions this
@samueldavies51762 дні тому
can someone direct me to a vid thats give info on how much tension is needed. changing my wire, and everything is off. '

@trunkingham2 дні тому

@gmendez54922 дні тому
so tightening the L screw brings the cage away from the bike whereas tightening the H screw brings it towards the bike? Is that correct?
@parktool2 дні тому
The low limit, limits the movement towards the bike and the high limit, limits the derailleurs ability to travel outwards. Indexing is done with cable "tension" between those points and can bring the cage in our out between those two points.
@jamesb58632 дні тому
And you didn't even get into the wide tolerance values of different torque wrenches. Good video.
@PhilDiasPJD2 дні тому
Forget Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.... This is Calvin and the Park Tool Factory!! Love it guys!! Well done from the UK.
@davidburgess7413 дні тому
Agreed. Torque doesn't equal tension necessarily. Usually I get it right, but my cassette lockring did work loose. I have modified my freehub body and gotten mixed brand cassette cogs and ratios together. I honed the freehub and lockring and used less Torque than usual applying locktite to compensate. 9 speeds on an 126m dropout frame without cold setting 10 speed cogs used. Well, it looks vintage, if you didn't count the cogs and realize that Nuevo Record 1973 derailleur never could Index! It looks real! When you modify parts you're going to have fun. I backyard engineered it into a success in the end.

@aarons10733 дні тому
How are you supposed to do the last step with a caliper that has a bleed port but no bleed nipple 7:54? Since it takes a threaded fitting and doesn't have the ability to open and close quickly, there's no way to pressurize the hose?
@joelg5983 дні тому
I’m sorry, but you can’t check torque with a Torque wrench that way. Restart torque throws off the value. Friction is about 90% of the torque being applied. Your point on tension is dead on though. HOWEVER, Your instincts on how tight something feels is dead wrong. The most skilled technicians can’t accurately apply torque many studies have been done on this.
