It would have better performance especially the graphics, but it will be a benefit on games, all that productivity stuff can be done with both Macs efficiently

For the same money, I would go for 14" model for sure. It is not just CPU/GPU but better cooling, probably higher end screen. And it passes my couch working spot test with ease :-)

Still getting the MBA 15". Thinner. Better battery. Silent. Bigger. Very powerful compared to most windows laptops at same costs. Can be much cheaper depending on the configurations chosen. Given that we are far from all being video editors, for 90% of people, this 15" MBA will be more than enough and for a very long time.

Yes, when adding the extra RAM and SSD on the 15" Air, the 14" macbook pro is better choice with M2 Pro, better screen @ that price point. But, for most folks and usage, the base config with larger screen 15" Macbook Air, it's slim design and price is hard to beat.

I was so excited about the 15" MBA that I placed my order a week ago this week I bought the 14" M2 MBP when I realized it was discounted to $1749 yes the 15" MBA is a cooler laptop but 14" MBP has a better display, can handle more tasks, doesn't weight that much more and is more future proof for me. I feel better after watching your video thank you!

I DID THE SAME. I returned the macbook air 15 because of the awful display. The backlight bleed (when watching dark content) is really awful. Shame on apple for using such a shitty LCD panel.

I decided to go with the pro. The 14 inches is a nice middle point in size regardless of the fact they have very similar weight. The display on the pro is incredible.

I’m a iPad person myself but this is a very interesting video, since my devices are used for multimedia more than anything else I would favor the 14 Pro even though it has a smaller screen because of the Mini LED display. I love watching video on my 12.9 iPad Pro M1 for that very reason

Yes, about half the music producers use Macbooks, but more of them use Ableton than Logic Pro.

@@MaxTechOfficial I think your channel is the one everyone turns to when they have to make a buying decision and are seriously considering the machines. So including tests for all kinds of consumers makes the most sense. Channels where people go for fun and to just take a look at the latest tech may choose to omit stuff but someone like you, whose videos drive buying decisions due to being in depth and covering vast areas of concern of a buyer, I feel you should include as many things as possible.

I had first purchased a M2 MacBook Air in January. With the lack of active cooling it gets very hot. It is forced to down clock. I returned it in favor of my MacBook M1 Pro. I still use a pad to lift it because it also gets pretty warm. But it doesn’t seem to bog down.

The 15" Air is great for office and photo editing where screen size is more important; the 14" Pro is more important for demanding tasks and still a decent screen size. Between both I would go for the 14" Pro as for what the Air does, I would choose a much cheaper windows machine / surface pro.

Yes, do a thermal mod video. I am using an external fan (laptop cooling pad) with an older PC laptop with a failed fan, and am planning to get either the 15" air or the pro soon. Curious about the differences in performance, since my budget is tight for a few months.

I was on the fence til I actually went to the Apple Store and compared them side by side. 15in was the clear winner for me, felt so comfortable to hold and I like to have my laptop on my lap sometimes which was way nicer with the 15in. I also noticed having that extra screen size made more of a difference than pixel density which for me personally I could not tell the difference and I really tried hahah. I’m never going to be moving 500 photo files lol, I don’t even know what half those programs are anyway. If you do this professionally (ie your full time job is photos or videos etc) get the pro of course, but for everyone else the air has such a cool design, fun to hold and move, great size screen, and more than enough performance for non professionals. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s a more aesthetically attractive laptop because after all we do have to look at it every day. It’s one of those products where I smile just admiring the sleekness and design. Anyway, go to an Apple Store if you can and actually interact with them physically before choosing based on just numbers. This is a product most of us will need to be holding and moving daily, so give it a test drive! ;)

Absolutely said I too purchased 15 inch Mac Book air as I am going to join 4 year clg so I bought air model in India for 140,000 it has a cool design and larger screen it would be enough for 5 years .I can purchase 16 pro Mac but decided with 15 inch air what to do with 16 pro Mac in next upcoming 4 years as It is for professionals .in next upcoming 4 years however apple is going to launch m3,m3 pro and max m4 models I decided to buy then buying 16 pro as student seems not a good decision to me😊

I did the same thing! After ordering a MBA 15" while in order transit I saw the M3 presentation from Apple and considered getting the M3 Pro 14" especially after watching comparison reviews, but when I went in person to the store and felt the computers side by side the Pro 14" felt like a big clunker with bad design imo. I also felt almost no visible upgrade from the MBA 13" in terms of screen real estate, which was one of the bigger decisions, because I don't prefer hooking the laptop up to an external monitor if part of the reason I'm buying it is for screen display. I'm sure that if you're doing heavy duty lifting on Macbook Pro such as video editing then this is the right laptop; however, in an ideal world I would have the MBA 15" for my daily user and the MBP for work such as coding, video editing, etc. On a side note the MBP 16" felt almost too big, but would likely be the ideal choice for me if budget is not a concern.

I agree. I was waiting for the 15” but bought the 16” Pro last summer. I’m a light user but i need a bigger screen than 13” or even 14”. When the 15” MBA was released, I was starting to regret my choice, but when I tried the MBP and MBA side by side yesterday, I was instantly glad I had bought the 16” MBP last year. I think it will serve me well for many years!

It would be good to quickly mention in your performance videos (to bring to light to the Windows laptop users) that your test results are done on laptops running on battery, not plugged in to AC… that the test results don’t worsen when the laptop is unplugged.

Im a fan of the pro...my very first MacBook was a pro but to be honest I personally don't need the features of the Pro but wasn't a fan of some of the earlier models of the Air. The revamp of the air really got my attention and then adding a bigger screen sold me. I love the Macbook Air 15 so far. I think this macbook is going to do well for apple. But ill hold onto my M1 Macbook Pro with touchbar for streaming purposes.

Upgrading from a late 2016 MBP 15" so I'm completely stumped on whether I should go with the M2 MacBook Air or break the bank and get a M2 16" MacBook Pro/Max. I use Logic Pro X and am wanting to dig into Final Cut Pro (I've been stuck in iMovie for six years). My 2016 MPB display went completely out so I'm using it in docked mode but it stutters a lot trying to work with 4K video in iMovie. I typically make about 20-25 videos about 20 minutes in length each year as is but I don't know how much of an upgrade the Air would be from that 2016 MBP or if jumping to the M2 Pro or M2 Max would be way too much overkill functionally or financially.

Finally, I got the 16 inch M2 Max. I was holding back, because I thought the transition from intel to Apple-silicone would be a nightmare for all my FCPX and Logic plugins, but it turned out to be just slightly simpler than clean installing Windows on my gaming PC.

Having a fan on the pro is a no-go for me. I don't like fan noise and have been spoiled by not having to worry about ventilation with the MBA. The slight performance hit from thermals isn't enough for me to care about.

I will always take the Pro; the screen quality is significantly better, with black levels that are just as black as OLED, since the Mini LEDs in those zones, where the image is completely black, is basically turned off, so no light comes out. I’m not going back to grey or purplish blacks.

I purchased a MBA 15" specifically for its portability, screen size, battery life and "good nuff" performance; however, I am livid that the MBA 15" that has same M2 as a Mac Mini cannot support more than one monitor. I tried displaylink, Thunderbolt 4 docking stations all to no avail. Apple nerfed multi-monitor support on the MBA.

I’ve been working on a 2015 retina MacBook Pro 13in with 45GB/sec throughput w/ 16GB ddr3 ram, 512GB ssd connected to an external display. I’m ready to move up to a 15in MacBook Air maxed out with 100GB throughput, 24GB ddr5 ram, 2TB nand storage.

Idk why nobody talks about screen ghosting issue (you can see it in the video during frame rate comparison in slow motion) in macbooks. It's so prominent to my eyes that i can feel it in real life.Being a windows laptop user for 10 years, looking at macbook displays hurts my head. Sometimes I feel tempted to switch to mac because of the stability which macOS brings to the table. But as soon as I look at the display, I instantly change my mind.

I have had three MacBook Pro's, two 13" and one 15"...I am on a ASUS Zephyrus G14 right now after my Blade 14 broke....I think 14" is truly the best sized laptop if you already have a good workstation and need the best balance of portable but still large sized screen.

We waited for the first reviews of the 15" then ordered a 14" Pro which arrived yesterday. Very happy with the 14" Pro, this is our first M2 version but we have 2 14" M1 base models which have been amazing (I have 4 sons, converting them one at a time to Tim's walled garden).

The biggest problem with the MBA is the 1 external monitor support. For users who don't need pro functions but have an office set-up with two monitors they only need a MBA but because of the external monitor support is pushed to the MBP. This is assuming they need a laptop otherwise of course the Mac Mini makes most sense. Now the 15" MBA is really only the clear option over the 13" if the extra screen real estate makes an important difference. If the MacBook display is one's primary display, it's well worth going for the 15". But if you have an office set-up, then the 13" makes most sense. Except, because of the 1 external monitor display support. Because of all this, I would say the 15" MBA for most non-pro users makes most sense unless one needs 2 external monitors. Then the M1 14" MBP is the clear option in terms of value.

This video was a big help! I was going to get the 15” M2 MacBook Air with 16GB memory and 512GB SSD for $1499 on a Black Friday sale because that was about my budget, but decided to check refurbished units and ended up getting a refurbished 14” M2 Pro MacBook Pro base model for $1599. I think for only $100 more that was the better choice, even though it might be a bit overkill for my needs. I figure it’ll have better longevity.

The pro is too bulky and the air has heating problems. Going back to using dedicated ports is a pain as adding additional thunderbolt ports would have been better. Four thunderbolt ports on each side would have been great. The air is sexy and the 15 inch is perfect. It just needs vents and it could be considered a semi-pro machine. In all, the older pros (that required dongles) were my favorites. I like that the Touch Bar is no more, but that’s about it.

I am having trouble deciding which of the MacBooks has the best screen for reading, clarity and sharpness. I realize that the MacBook Pro technically has a better screen but when it comes down to reading, clarity and sharpness, should a person be looking to purchase the MacBook Pro M2 Pro 14” or the new MacBook Air M2 15” ? Your insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
