Another factor to consider is that with this system on a chip design, memory is no longer upgradeable. It is this and the fact that over time the Apple Mac OS keeps getting more features added and the operating system gets larger that when I ordered the M3 fifteen inch MacBook Air I ordered it with the 24gb of memory which is the maximum for this machine. I do not want limited memory that can never be upgraded slowing down the computer.

I prefer MacOS to Windows but I want the Snapdragon X Elite to succeed because Apple needs to face real competition. RAM is similarly soldered onto Qualcomm's chip so I hope their minimum RAM offering starts at 16GB, which puts pressure on Apple to up their base RAM.

I really want the competition to beat what Apple is doing as it will mean Apple will give us better chips when its their turn. Everyone wins. I love that this chip supports so many external displays, you know the M4 will do the same now (if not more). The days of x86 are over. Intel and AMD need to take this arch. seriously (which I know they are). Too little too late for RISC-V sadly, at least for the next 5 to 10 years...

Got a pair of 3rd gen today. Love them. Sound is good. Price is ok. Team up perfectly with iphone (no surprise there) fit perfect in my average girly ears so anyone women out there wondering if they will fit give them a go they seem to be fine and I am very fussy about comfort. I forgot they in and prefer idea I can hear my environment but if you getting the train everyday or in loud urban traffic on your way to work maybe iPod pro 2 better.

That was a great hardware review and if you were going by hardware and screen size Samsung would be the winner. You touch upon, but you don’t elaborate too much that Apple has so many more apps made for the iPad and there are relatively few android apps optimized for tablets. Software is a big part of it and android doesn’t even come close. If I was only watching movies , I would get the Samsung but if you want to use it as a tablet, you’re way better off with Apple’s far superior app ecosystem.

M2 air heats more compared to M1. Also the base M2 air has slower ssd. M1 is much better computer still in 2024. I would rather say it is the absolute best laptop I have ever used. Best doesn't mean most features or most performance. Best in the sense that it provides the best value at it's pricing. It exactly does what you expect from it. I can't have single complain about it except gpu performance.

Just moved back to Windows, as the Mac is just not an IT work station, was one of the most frustrating doorsteps I have used, glad I have a Dell Precision 5680 with easily a days battery life for my work, the previous mac book pro is a lab machine and youtube brick for my dad!

I wish they would do an iPad Air with the m3 but it will be m2 and the iPad mini with the a18pro chip which is basically m1 level power I love the iPad mini I buy every one since the mini 2

I got the Anker MagGo 10000. It'a a great battery but still have a lot flaws. 1st it does not fit the 6.1" iPhone 15 Pro, only the Max. The battery is longer than the 15 Pro when mounted on the phone. 2nd is the build quality. The Charging Pad face of the power bank does not stay flat on the phone when charging, the surface has irregularities (bad quality) and the lower part where the second magnet is located has always a 1-2 millimeters raise from the glass back of the phone. 3rd, on the iPhone 15 Pro it starts to charge with 15 Watts but after 30-40 mins goes all the way down to 5-6 Watts (measured on Ampere).

i just watched a video, where OEM's are stating Qualcomms new chips aren't performing on windows at the numbers that qualcomm is claiming, so should be interesting to see how windows and all the other apps running at the same time and how it actually handles,

Let's wait for the actual Qualcomm ARM PC to compare with Apple silicon. This is not the first time they showed the benchmark but were not able to deliver.

They ‘shocked’ the world by not releasing upgraded models last year. Either it’s the beginning of a new era for tablets or they are intentionally killing their own market.

There is something most of you leave out when talking about external display support. In terms of number, yes, X elite supports more displays than M3. However, you always leave out the resolution-which is also essential. X elite supports up to three 4K@60 displays or two 5K@60 while M3 supports up to two 5K@60 displays with the lid closed. If it's number of pixels, the M3 technically is not far off from the X elite. And the M3 can also support one 6K@60 as well.

By the time real machines are on the market with these Snapdragon processor at the M1 Level Apple will be selling M4 machines lol.

Performance isn't everything. Windows sucks. Maybe if the perf is great linux could be a viable option for me but it would be hard to live without the integration i get with a mac.

There seems to be something fishy going on with how Qualcomm is presenting the performance of their new chips. Don't get me wrong, it's good that their bringing more competition by releasing this chip. However, if you pay close attention to the numbers they had presented when they first announced this chip compared to what they have presented recently, it begs the question if they are being candid? Qualcomm had shown the X elite to score over 3,200 points in Geekbench 6 single core test when they announced it, and now their showing around 2,800 points in their latest charts. Why did it decrease? Was the 3,200 used just to show how they beat Apple M2 and Intel in that respect? Also, they keep talking about how their 12 performance cores CPU beats M3-which has 4 perf and 4 efficiency cores-in multi threaded benchmark. Like, really? M3? They don't even show the single core performance when doing the comparisons -which is the most important metric when using thin and light notebooks since most of the tasks involve single threaded workloads. They also omit the power consumption difference as well- again, very essential. Look, like I said, it's good for competition to have their chips in PCs and I applaud them for what they bring to the table. But they have to come clean.

Meh. Who cares. It's the full stack integration that's the actual proposition with Apple. And I think they've proven that this engineering methodology is a great approach (vs modular like you have in PC world; which is also great but different thing).
