In this 1910 clip, the great Sam Langford uses his long arms to keep Fireman Jim Flynn at distance while punishing him for trying to close the gap. Himself an expert at ring-cutting and crowding opponents, the barrel-chested Langford was also deadly on the retreat - taking full advantage of how long his limbs were compared to his height and launching some of boxing history's most lethal artillery. In the training footage former coloured heavyweight champ Bob Armstrong is drilling this kind of move with Bonecrusher Sam.
