I can do the ifconfig command and get the results as per your video but the sudo nano etc/dhcp.conf command is not recognized . I get the error -bash: -sudo: command not found. Thanks

Would this fix the dynamic ip address issue from constantly changing on the router when using a RPi as a web server hosting a website or do we still have to use the dynamic ip address generated directly from the router instead of the RPi IP address when hosting a website on a RPi?

Thanks for the video! I understand that the Raspberry Pi has an IP address. Is this different than the IP of my home internet? For example, if I see X IP for the Rasbperry Pi, will I see X for my computer? Or will I see Y for the computer? If they're different, I don't really understand what this is meant to do. Is it a little computer? Or does it effectively change your computer's IP like a VPN would? Also, where is this new IP from? Is it local to your physical address? Especially if I can choose my own IP address. For example, what if I live in the New York City metro area, but I want to have a Milwaukee, Wisconsin IP so that I can watch "local" Packers NFL games from New Jersey - because nobody wants to watch the Jets or Giants - no matter where I am via my SpectrumTV app? How does one go about determining where the IP is located? And during setup, can I just put any IP I want in there? How do I know if that IP is already being used by someone else? Is there a list of Milwaukee IPs that are free for me to take? I hope that's not a super dumb question. I have very specific needs, and am not sure if Raspberry Pi is going to work, so before I dive too deeply, I want to have confidence that it's going to be worth the investment. Thanks!!

Hey mate, Thanks for putting the effort on setting up this video. I followed the steps suggested by you and the static IP is working fine. However I am unable to connect to the internet. I went through the video 2 to 3 times and then relaized I had spelling errors and the subnetmask on the PI is coming as 255.0.0.0 (Surprisingly on the same network my laptop has 255.255.255.0) As suggested in your video I added the /8 after the IP address. But still unable to connect to the internet It would be very helpful if you can help me with the same. Regards, Vikas Mulchandani (India)

Hi, Miguel Very good Video! I tried the sam thing on the raspberry 3 and at reboot it sais My IP address is.... and so forth! My Question is why did it change not exact the same address as I have asignd it too? Only the last 4 digits have changed. If putty telling you "network error connection refused", you need to run "sudo raspi-config" and enable ssh

Hi Miguel, I quite new to linux and RPi. After configuring raspbian and connected the RPi to internet, it stops working in ~ 10min; the msg on the wifi symbol is ''eth0 link is down''. Can this method solve my problem? Thx in adv.

After typing ifconfig it did not show inet address or mask

i tried your method and now I can't connect to my raspberry pi 4, gotta buy an adaptor for HDMI to remove the codes

after setting it I cant able to access internet via Ethernet internet shared

a wild problem appeared, I change the interface and now it doesn't connect to my network via the ethernet cable anymore.

My suggestion to you is not to use the /24 it did not work for me just put in the static IP address. I put the 24 at the end and it blocked the Internet.
