I'm a Navy brat, and a Navy vet. I enjoyed this video. I do understand your comment about the packing ,but my mother when I was a young child taught us to pack anything you're sending to a parent or fellow service member like they're going to throw it out this side of a helicopter from three stories up! When I joined the service I failed to obey my mother's comment and they threw my sea bag out of the side of the helicopter onto the flight deck from about three stories up! It was 6 months before everything I own ceased smell like old spiced and they managed to shatter the bottle in the bottom of my sea bag! Please note those old glass bottles of Old Spice take a considerable effort to break so that was an achievement in itself. If I'm having something shipped from China I would expected to come in a box that I could almost drop off the top of my house!

First and foremost! Thank you for your service! Yes, I was told the same thing. Pack something that could survive being dropped off a roof. At lease is smelled like Old Spice, I could image there being far worse odors! Out of everything that I have unboxed, I have never seen something packed so well and tight! Let just hope you do not need to return this printer, because getting everything back into that foam will be even more of a challenge 😆

Bought one in december and i'm pretty happy with it. Only added bimetal heatbreak as i plan to print some abs & nylon later. I also deleted PTFE tube guide at first, but then i tried to use the top "hat" and free moving tube made annoying screeching and pulled it to the side, thus making it seal much worse. So then i chamfered the brass fiting and bent it's mount slightly up, so the tube is inline with the giude, had no filament grinding/jamming since.

Great video. Thanks. I'd never really heard of the Flying Bear brand so thank you for introducing us. I wonder if you recorded the time to print the bench? And if you attempted to run a faster print? I'd love to know how fast this thing can print and still produce quality prints.

Very detailed and clear review! The printer looks pretty solid and the prints turned out great 😍 the color and the finishing of that filament is awesome! I don't get the need of that frontal door neither since you can grab the prints from the top, but whatever 😂 And no problem, everybody spells my name wrong but I get used to it 😂 Guess it's because of that capital Y at the end that people get confused 😂 Just go with "Randomizy" as you can hear from Google translate, without writing the capital Y and you'll be fine 😉 Anyways, once again, great video! And thank you for printing and featuring my model too 🐰💙

Looks like a good printer for the money, seems much better than any of the Ender 3 family. It should have some kind of ABL system, I'm sure they could add one for just a couple of $. Then it would be a good starter printer. Wonder how well it does ABS and PETG? Don't let Bear see how it flys.

It is nice to see 3D printers that are not just clones. More like an appliance. To me the perfect upgrades would be, ABL, all metal high flow hotend, and PEI sheet! Bear didn’t seem too worried about someone using his name 😉

I have another one of their printers, the reborn 2, which is bigger and has a metal heat break. other than some missing screws and nuts, it prints surprisingly well. It has a pt1000 so you might be able to go up to 500C with it but the heater block is stainless steel so 400 is max

Looks a bit janky to me, considering most people print bed support mods for cantilever beds you would have thought they would be included, even Creality has included them eventually, but hasn't retro fitted them to their older machines ,the company famous for never fixing their printers faults!

Reminds me of the Creality 5 days as well, so many people printing structural parts. I have never been a fan of cantilever designs, to prone for sagging. Just add a two more smoothed rods and call it a day.

Thanks for the video - excellent content. I know this is designed more as an "appliance" - unbox-and-go type and that absolutely has a market. I am curious about a couple of details though - primarily "tinkering". What board does it use? can it be klipper-ised? just how would you attach an ABL if you wanted one? what raiils does it use? etc etc. I know if thats what someone wants they might be better off with a generic bed-slinger style though. Thanks again!
@TripodsGarage
@TripodsGarage Рік тому
Thanks for the compliment! The board is a MKS Nano4 v3.1, and the Github has a generic Klipper CFG, link below. You should be able to run a ABL on this board. However, you will need to fabricate a bracket. It uses linear shafts and linear bushings for the motion system. Hope that answers your questions? Thanks github.com/makerbase-mks/Klipper-for-MKS-Boards/tree/main/MKS%20Robin%20Nano%20V3.x

@@TripodsGarage Awesome that they use the v3.1! That supports UART communication with the drivers so you can soft-tune them. TwoTrees still uses the Robin Nano v1.2 in their newest Sapphire Pro and Sapphire Plus printers (which does not have provisions for UART control). This would be a great printer to Klipperize. :)

Forgive my ignorance but isn't speed the point of CoreXY? Are there other major advantages? I could be excited about a fast printer for $320, but this unit seems to be slower than a stock Ender 3, at least in this video. Edited to add, great job on the video, very comprehensive review. I'm just disappointed in the printer, haha.

I was wondering the same thing. A speed test would be quite handy. It seems like it should be capable of high speed printing.
@onesadtech
@onesadtech Рік тому
@@corynardin Yeah, apparently it can do 150mm/s which is triple the Ender 3V2's speed, but I have to wonder what the quality is like at that speed. It seemed in this video that it was printing more like 30-50mm/s and having quality issues already.

I think that 2.5+ mm of retraction is too much for a direct drive. This means that it's not a "clear direct". I think there are some modded heads for this printer exists that has a real direct drive.

Hey NHWMP! Yeah, pretty good bargain printer. Like the fact it is enclosed. Took me a few minutes to find the other Tripod channel, it is called Tripod Tech. As you mentioned, there will be some confusion between the two channels. I just read your comment. There will always be people with similar names, but usually the content isn’t. Why is retraction distance is so large??? 2.5 mm looks like almost bowden setup. Direct extruder should keep this value less than 1 mm
@TripodsGarage
@TripodsGarage Рік тому
Yeah! Seems that printers I review with Direct Drives have the slicer at a ridiculous 6mm+. I always start at 1mm. That is what you saw with the first benchy. I increased it to 2.5 for the bunny. I saw no stringing, I then did another test benchy with those settings. It might be because of how long the PTFE lining is?
@rmatveev
@rmatveev Рік тому
@@TripodsGarage The reason for stringing can be too high hotend temperature, filament moisture or slow travel moves.
@glabifrons
@glabifrons Рік тому
@@TripodsGarage I have a direct drive with about that amount of distance between the drive and hotend on one machine and a low flying extruder on a delta, both are 0.4 to 0.5mm retraction. Also don't forget that you need to tune retraction speed, it makes a big difference. Edit: Now that I think about it, I converted one of my core-XY machines to direct drive too a while back... all of them have around a half millimeter of retraction. Anything over 1mm is far too much for a direct-drive.
