My dog (rescue), had Distemper, the Vet gave him some Antibiotics; and said if these don’t work “take it back. I was already in love 🥰 and I wasn’t going to dump him back in the pound. Fortunately I got a real vet next time, he assured me that there was plenty of things we could try. He made a full recovery ❤❤

When we suspected Parvo...we did not wait..there is a smell that parvo gives off...it is one scent i will never forget

A lot of illnesses have a specific smell. Diabetes. C-dif. UTI. Necrosis. Bedsores. I never considered parvo. But other pet infections do. (Yeast. Ear mites. Etc)

@@kaidanariko Oh, no - the smell of parvo gets up in your sinuses and you'll smell it for days. the closest I can think of is the smell outside a slaughterhouse.

We lost a young poodle to parvo when it first came out. At that time there wasn't even a vaccination for it. To all dog owners please get your dogs vaccinated for this!!! I'm kind of amazed that it's still an issue out there. The poodle we lost happened almost 50 years ago. I remember I was in elementary School when it happened.

Unfortunately, sometimes a puppy or a dog can still contract it even if they get vaccinated. I think the outcome is better though if they’ve been vaccinated. Parvo is scary though

when i was in dog rescue, one of our dogs turned out to have parvo. the owners knew but failed to disclose that little tidbit. when we took the dog to the vet, there was no bringing the dog inside: the vet came out and examined the dog in the back of our pickup. by then, the dog was going into seizures - rotti and rotti mix are exceptionally sensitive to parvo - and there was nothing for it but to ease him off. the vet took all his clothes off and stood in the parking lot while a vet tech dressed in surgical hazmat threw buckets of disinfectant over him, then hosed him down, tossed him towels to dry off, then tossed him sealed plastic bags containing clean clothes. after he went inside, she lined up a half-dozen buckets, a jug of disinfectant, and the hose, then told us to use it on ourselves and our truck before going back to the farm.

When I was 2 years old my mom gave birth to my second sister whom Mama named Adrienne Grace but I called her "Chookie". I must have thought Mama gave me a CHICKEN! I finally found out WHY from the Bondi Vets. Until I discovered them I didn't know that is what chickens are called in the Galic language. On my mom's side, my ancestors come from Rathven, Banfshie, and Perthshire, Scotland with a little Irish thrown in from Armauge County. My sister does not like the name I gave her! 😂,👵🐈⬛🐈⬛ Me and my cats Teo and Twotwo

Rocky, have you seen the You Tube channel The Farm, they're in Australia and a fantastic place for shelter dogs, they need more members, I think they have 86,000. They started as a daycare and when covid started they changed to saving shelter animals and have adopted 20 and gotten even more adopted. Dogs about to be put down cause they're deemed dangerous and Luke turns them into big babies! Please give them a mention or share them on your channel, Please, Please, they do such great work, just watch them one time!

Was cookie ever spayed? They never mentioned anything about that. It’s essential if you are not going to breed a female ferret that she gets spayed. Otherwise she will die from anemia.

I have no idea why the sea turtle had to have a CT scan with contrast when it was known already by ultrasound that she had developing follicles.

Owning reptiles, they have more to worry about then IF she had follicles, the dye isn't going to damage those, it doesn't act the same in them as it does people, their fine. However the development needed greater monitoring and they cared about the moms health, the eggs being healthy will be icing on the cake, but for them to even come you have to care for the mum.

@@symbioticanimalalliance674 thanks for reply, but I’m not understanding that if the US already showed follicles, why a Ct? I am only an ER dr so know absolutely nothing about vet medicine. The contrast is not a problem. You have to use that in order to adequately visualize the organs you are interested in. I must have missed the explanation,but I understood that they were only looking at follicle development out of curiosity. What I want to know is what would have happened if CT wasn’t done? What detrimental effects would occur. Were they looking for something else? It was a lot of work and stress on the turtle just to check follicles if that was the case.

@@kkdoc7864They were specifically looking to see if there was anything wrong as to why the eggs hadn't been laid yet. Sometimes they can get stuck inside, and then they essentially start to rot in there. Obviously, that's bad for the mom. That's why they were saying they were looking to see if she needed "help getting them out" with the CT.

These vets need paid. There are specialized medications, specialized medical equipment and machines, and many many years of very expensive specialized schooling involved in starting a practice. For what it's worth, many of them do charity work for disasters, shelters, or even the homeless where the care provided is all free.

No, most vets aren't price gouging or something, yes it's expensive but that's because it's expensive! They have almost the same intensive care that there is for humans, it's not cheap. The problem isn't vets and their prices, the problem is people getting animals that they can't afford to pay for. My cockatoo costs me an absolute fortune but I planned for that and therefore he's able to have all the check ups and toys and great perches for his feet, good food and vitamins if needed to keep him healthy and happy. If you can't afford to give an animal the basic care it deserves and yes that includes unforeseen things like illness or injury then you have absolutely no business owning one. It's just selfish.

@@ialrakis5173 That was my FIRST thought. WHY, when its leg was caught and twisted into that netting for 16 HOURS? I wouldn't have wasted any time and brought her to the Vet ASAP. How MEAN and NEGLECTFUL of the tortoises owner. You would take your child or yourself to have medical care. TOTALLY avoidable with immediate care.
