From flying taxis and self-driving cars to personal jet packs, emerging transportation technologies like these, once considered futuristic, are seemingly on the cusp of becoming an everyday reality. However, the true advancements made in these kinds of technologies have perhaps been overstated. So far, the reality in 2021 is that we are unlikely to see autonomous vehicles on the road for at least a number of years.
Ultimately, while the time will likely come for many manufacturers to truly invest their manpower and money in the development of exciting, emerging technologies like self-driving cars, capital and demand are low, and the technology is still in the early stages of development. For now, there are many other areas of investment, such as electric vehicles, that manufacturers can and should be focusing on to meet current consumer demands and see return on their investments in the short-term.

Benz has reinvented the car. The ideas for the interior, exterior and UX which have found their way into the overarching design concept aren’t simply new. They’re also rather revolutionary.
What Does the Mercedes-Benz VISION AVTR Look Like?
Vehicle or a living organism? The futuristic design and ergonomics of the Mercedes VISION AVTR will surely make heads turn on the roads of Wilmington. While AVTR appears to be the short term for Avatar, it also stands for Advanced Vehicle Transformation. In a bid to maintain an uncanny resemblance to the movie’s elements, the director James Cameron too contributed with his expertise for bringing this concept alive.
Emission-free engine
The German carmaker’s vision of merging man and machine comes alive with this futuristic concept car. Completely free from emission, this concept car has a 110-kilowatt-hour electric motor, producing 469 horsepower and a range of approximately 435 miles.
