The nice thing is that as UKpostsrs with a monetized site you get to write off all of the costs you incur - not only for your repairs but for all of the travel and experiences you document as well. I've worked for a school bussing company for 10 years that only buys used buses for their fleet. One thing I've learned is that even when you do your absolute best due diligence before purchasing, the reality is that they can be incredibly unpredictable. Y'all did a great job on the conversion. We've sold many buses to people wanting to convert into campers or tiny homes and I can tell you that 90% of people never complete the job so full kudos to you both for your hard work and dedication. I hope the mechanical problems settle down for y'all after this!

I have a suggestion for a Name for your schooly. The Maddymobile, Ha Ha it sings.

With some hindsight, I would probably have bought two similar buses at the beginning provided each one could have a thorough going over by a mechanic on the engine and transmission etc before handing over any cash. Sounds crazy, but any spare parts (if in good condition) are already paid for. I feel their pain and hope they will be on the road soon.

Sucks that laws make it hard for some people. I’m NM register as RV is easy as a short Vito from the DMV to your rig and then a visit from you to them. So we are lucky that we move weekly our bus and know how it runs.

That person at DMV in IL told you wrong. THAT IS NOT TRUE NATIONWIDE. Many people in OK are driving skoolies in OK and other states without CDL and even with air brakes. Now nationally, once it's re-classified as an RV those CDL requirments go away since RV's are exempt from GVWR and it's the GVWR RATING, that matters, NOT the weight of the bus, even with air brakes, once it's an RV, NO CDL required in all states. I know you guys have figured it out now. I dind't want to be the one to tell you but I too do have a CAT C7, but here's the deal, mine is a 2005. The C7 to avoid is the 2007 and later and yours is a 2008, sooooo, I just hope you have guys have now found all the bad stuff and dealt with it and it's all good from hear on out. Now my 2010 Blue Bird Vision like yours, just 1 window longer, does NOT have the CAT C7. It has the Cummins 6.7ISB which still has emissions like the EGR and EGR Cooler and DPF so it has to ReGen from time to time too, but the Cummins isn't notorious for problems as the 2007 and later C7. There is a guy who put a chart together about the good and bad engines and transmissions. If I can find your email addy, I'll send that to you. It's an MS Excel spreadsheet but I consider it accurate since it shows Green for the good engines, Yellow the for the engines to be cautious of, and RED for the engines to avoid.

guys $8k sounds like A LOT for a tank and injectors. please call around and get some more estimates if you haven't already pulled the trigger
