My dad has been a paramedic for 42+ years. He has the biggest heart of anyone I know and refuses to talk much about his work (apart from the occasional funny story) to any of us kids. I understand completely and it breaks my heart imagining what he goes through on a daily basis. Idk how he copes with it. He doesn't turn to alcohol or anything like that, but I think his faith keeps him sane at the very least. Either way he is seriously gifted at what he does, and I've learned so much from him over the years

The worst story I heard from an EMT/Firefighter was a call about a vehicle that swerved off the road, down a cliff. There were 4 passengers that had all been drinking. The car was folded in two like a piece of paper. At first, they thought there were only two bodies. A few hundred yards back up the cliff, there was a boy. He'd hit the ground so hard, feet first, it snapped his back in two & he was stuck in the ground like a Christmas decoration. His legs & arms buried halfway in the dirt. One of the passengers in the car was missing half of his torso, he was folded in with the car, unrecognizable. It turns out, that boy folded in half with the car was the EMT/Fireman's son. He'd let him go to his first party the night before with his best friend & thought he'd just spent the night. He didn't find out until the coroner had finished his report the next day (as it took quite a while to gather all the pieces of the four passengers.) I couldn't imagine arriving on that kind of scene & then finding out it was my son & his friends...he cried as he told me the story. I cried too. Please don't drink & drive. It's just not worth it!

Could not agree more. Not as heartbreaking a story, but I knocked a friend out with a swift punch once because he refused to stay the night when drunk. I had to drag his ass from the driver's seat and put him to bed. A broken nose, sure, but I do not know what would have happened had we let him go drunk. And to clarify, my friend was very stubborn, even when sober... so the punch was necessary. He thanked me later, though he did demand I pay his doctor's visit.
@SexyButCurious
@SexyButCurious 7 років тому
Hey it's better to stop him by force and preventing him getting behind the wheel, then have him drive and kill himself or another person. I personally knew someone who was a passenger of a car and both him and the driver were drunk. When his friend hit a guardrail,he(the person I knew) flew out the window onto the LA freeway and was run over twice before someone realized it was person. This happen in 2005, he would of been in his mid 30s now.

They’re required to at times, they have work phones and chances are they aren’t texting friends or family but contacting their boss etc. They also have a computer between the seats that they’re required to use, often while driving. Police are trained heavily in driving and all the distractions they’ll face while driving, hence why they can use a computer, operate a radio and take calls all while driving and we very very rarely if ever hear about police officers getting into car accidents because of distracted driving. It’s a little odd, but the police officers themselves don’t make those rules.

My ma is a doctor in a small rural clinic so when there is any kind of accident in that area they dispatch her and then she calls the hospital if needed. Last summer she gets a call that four girls had had an accident and their car had flipped in a rural road, she gets there and two of the kids are fine, one had gotten a full scalp (her scalp was torn off by the roof of the car, painful but fixable). However, the fourth girl was very tall and her head touched the roof, when they flipped her own body weight crushed her neck vertebrae and she's tetraplegic now. Sad bit? the reason the car flipped was because there was an irrigation canal that didn't have a warning sign, the driver got two wheels stuck in it and, when they approached the end of the canal, the car flipped. Worst bit? The tetraplegic girl is the goddaughter of my mom's coworker.

That lady with her feet up on the dashboard really fucked me over and got me. I was sitting back and listening to the while video intently but when this story came on I paused and repeated the audio description over and over again. When you understand most anatomy and visually imagine this scene on a human body, it's fucking terrifying. It can't be put into words on how disturbing it sounds and how much more worse it is to imagine what it looks like. The part where he described the look on her face and the noises she made are terrible. I would instantly freeze and gag the minute I'd see a brutally disassembled human body like that. I don't think I've ever imagined something so fucking revolting in my entire life. Still love you, Corpse Husband.

Same goes for drinking and driving. Back when I was a freshman in high school, we had a huge assembly pretty early on into the year. Everyone in the school showed up and we were met by several police officer, grief counselors, and a funeral home director who told us that four of our peers were involved in a pretty fucked up car accident. From what I remember, one of my classmates who was involved in the accident, was thrown through the windshield and flew several feet and into a ditch. She was in a coma for some time, but came out of it like a trooper. Thankfully nobody was killed in the accident, but the driver went to jail for at least two years for it. Seriously guys, don't drink and drive or text and drive. It's not worth it.

Funny story about 'always keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle'. When my mom was 16 (in 1966, I believe) she was driving to the lake with a couple of her friends, both vets recently back from Vietnam. She's pretty short, so she was laying with her head in the driver's lap, and her feet out the window. They get into a crash (I think someone stopped short in front of them), and the engine flies back, right into the space her legs would have been in if they were down. As it was her thigh was badly burned, and her leg broken and bloody. Also, a piece of something tore a few inches of her forehead clean off. Luckily one of her friends, remembering his army days, tied a beach towel tightly around her leg as a tourniquet, and even helped the emts find the price of her forehead. She was ok, but she says the worst part was that she had been badly sunburned the day before, all along the back side of her body, and when they put on the casts it burned like hell. Just goes to show there's an exception to every rule!

Number 2 really hits home for me because it makes me think of my mum When I was 10 and my sister was 7 our dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. No thanks to my paternal grandma who is a genetic carrier of this. My mum acted as his caretaker until 2015 when he died peacefully from his long term illness. I can remember clearly running into his hospital room and going into shock when my mum told me he was gone. I jumped on top of him screaming while my sister broke down in the background with his friends Danny and his wife Jacky. I begged him sobbing my eyes out to look at me, to wake up, look at me and call me boo boo like he always did. (My pet name, nickname by my dad). My mum then places her hand on my shoulder and tells me he's gone and with my uncle John (his younger brother) now. I then went into shock, climbed off my dad. In a daze walked out of the room and fell to my knees. I sat like that for what felt like forever until I broke down into sobs. To suffer with a partner who has a terminal illness is one of the hardest and most traumatic things you can ever deal with. I have nothing but respect and love for my mum for raising me and my sister, working as a Cardiac sister and dealing with her terminally ill husband. I hope to be as an amazing mother and wife to whatever lucky woman I end up marrying one day. Because nothing hurts more than losing your soulmate. But to raise 2 kids while dealing with all of this shows nothing but pure willpower and strength.

I know these are really hard stories but I can some how relate and its weirdly comforting hearing these stories because of my own experiences and knowing that im not alone when it comes to these stories. Hell, these stories make me ball a lot of the times but it feels therapeutic for me. I rarely ever cry. The only things that can actually make me cry are things involving my dead brother.....he died 9 years ago and it feels like it was just yesterday, and then tragic stories like these. but these stories as well as a few other things have pushed me into wanting to become an EMT. I know that ill run into these instances that were mentioned in the video but I want to be able to help. After my fathers abuse of my mother and I, I got tired of being helpless so I want to help those who are in need of help. Thank you for these great videos Corpse. Please keep up the amazing work man and I can't wait for your next Emergency Respinders video. By the way, you help more people than you know Corpse. I wantnto say thank you from the bottom of my heart. You've helped me more than you know. Like I said these videos that you make that are like this one are extremely therapeutic for me and it helps me cope with some of the horrible things Ive experiemced. Ill stop rambling now man. The courage, strength, compassion and basic love for humanity that is required to be an emergency worker in addition to their skills just isn't appreciated enough. Their suffering for the terrible things they have seen and the miracles they are part of make them true heroes who don't get the kudos they deserve for saving lives and putting people back together, keeping them stable, and being their real only chance at survival on a daily basis! 💗
