The statistics of deaths and injuries suffered in the "great" war are well documented. This story begs me to wonder about those who survived suffering severe mental injuries. These can end up being as lethal as physical wounds, only they can lie dormant for years before they come to the surface and cause such damage to the self.

Makes me humbled and proud to have what I have. And to think it’s so hard at times. Anyone who thinks they are having a terrible day,year,minute, or hour then they need to listen to a not just a story but a memory of someone’s grandpa or dad or uncle. To know what they went through to make our life so easy (compared to theirs) we should NOT be so quick to complain about our phone not charged or getting the wrong kind of coffee or a waitress getting our order wrong. We solute you! We thank you and everyone who went through any days of war time . God bless you! Thank you from somerset Pennsylvania,USA

*_This audiobook is a firsthand account of the experiences of a German soldier during World War I, written by an anonymous author who did not wish to make his name public for fear of reprisals against his relatives. The book describes the realities of the war from the perspective of an ordinary soldier and includes a description of the retreat of the German army after the Battle of the Marne. Interestingly, the book was published in serial form in the United States and reportedly generated much interest due to its vivid portrayal of the harsh realities of war._*

@PricelessAudiobooks
@PricelessAudiobooks Рік тому
@@dariusalexandru9536 That's correct. Storm of Steel is a memoir written by Ernst Jünger, a German officer who served on the Western Front during World War I. It describes his experiences as a soldier, including his time in the trenches and his participation in various battles. The book is written in a matter-of-fact style and does not take a clear stand on war or the moral implications of Jünger's experiences. In contrast, The War Experience of a German Deserter by an anonymous, for reasons already known, author and Western Front is an anti-war novel by Erich Maria Remarque that explores war's psychological and emotional effects on soldiers. The story is highly critical of the war and presents a bleak view of the human cost of conflict.

I just finished the 5 hour audiobook by the German communist, 'desserter.' Not all capitalists, are warmongers, and he had arrived into a country that really had wished to be nuetral- 2 actually, Holland, then the United States! Interesting version. Such a double standard communist bet he did not criticise the Bolshevik brutality in the Russian civil war after 1917. That would have been a justified war in which he would have had no problem to fight. Convenient pacifism on his part. The German troops were such paragons of virtue to listen to him. A work to promote his communistic hypocrisy double standards. We know the terrible life that existed in the Soviet Union after 1917. One can only hope he enjoyed that country and did not have to live in an evil capitalist country after 1918.

A German deserter's war experience *_by Julius Koettgen_* 17 editions published between 1917 and 2013 in English and Undetermined and held by 322 libraries worldwide In 1913 Julius Koettgen, a pacifist and a socialist was drafted into the ranks of sapper battalion No. 30. He dutifully fought in the ranks of the Kaiser's armies during 1914 and 1915 and saw action in France and Belgium where he describes the terrible events which were to become known as 'the rape of Belgium' and also details the extent of the fighting, including being forced to form part of a firing squad, crossing the Meuse under heavy fire, using corpses as road building materials annihilating a cavalry charge hand to hand bayonet fighting, and the awful events of the disastrous German retreat from the Marne. With the onset of trench warfare, Koettgen also experienced the horrors of trench warfare and the famous Christmas truce of 1914. In 1915 he decided that enough was enough and escaped military life by deserting the colors and slipping through the lines to neutral Holland

You couldn't be more wrong. Hitler despised socialists and they were the first people sent to the concentration camps. The man would have never entered power had his campaign not been funded by the capitalist oligarchs in Germany at that time (Krupp, Volkswagen, etc) in direct response to socialism which was super popular then. So no national socialism was not socialism in the same way China isn't a democratic republic (the Nazis tended to lie about a lot of things).

@@MrFrogNo3 The democratic socialists were the Wiemar politicians, international socialists were the soviets, National socialists were....need i say more....o.k...here..."The money pigs of capitalist democracy… Money has made slaves of us… Money is the curse of mankind. It smothers the seed of everything great and good. Every penny is sticky with sweat and blood. Quoted in The Nazi Party 1919-1945: A Complete History, Dietrich Orlow, New York: NY, Enigma Books, 2012, p 61. Goebbels’ article, “Nationalsozialisten aus Berlin und aus dem Reich”, Voelkischer Beobachter, February 4, 1927 One class has fulfilled its historical mission and is about to yield to another. The bourgeoisie has to yield to the working class ... Whatever is about to fall should be pushed. We are all soldiers of the revolution. We want the workers' victory over filthy lucre. That is socialism. Quoted in Doctor Goebbels: His Life and Death, Roger Manvell, Heinrich Fraenkel, New York, NY, Skyhorse Publishing, 2010 p. 25, conversation with Hertha Holk If we were only anti-Semites, we would be out-of-place in the twentieth century. However, we are also socialists. For us, the two go together. Der Nazi-Sozi, Elberfeld: Verlag der Nationalsozialistischen Briefe, (1927) Production that is essentially completed, which no longer requires strength, ability, inventiveness, entrepreneurship and brilliance (e.g., the transportation system, trusts, conglomerates) will be brought back to state ownership. ..Goebbels.
@MrFrogNo3
@MrFrogNo3 3 роки тому
@@scottleft3672 Uh yah. Any historian would tell you Hitler lied a lot to gain the support of socialists. He even attended a prominent Communist's funeral in mourning black. It's all a game, are you really quoting Hitler to make a point as if Hitler is known as a man of truth and morals. No, the proof is in the pudding, Hitler's campaign was funded by capitalists in order to directly block German socialism, he privatised pretty much all nationalised industry, got rid of all unions, and both the socialist and communist parties were dissolved and their members were executed or sent to concerntration camps. Many of them participating in forced labour for the very corporations that were essential in Hitler's rise to power.
