Since the driver safety is no longer a concern, the race cars should go unlimited to get real attention to the competition

I think 2 months was a bit ambitious, however I think the main issue is the lack of testing also. I would love to see unlimited testing provided to the teams before the next event, rather than learning on race weekends. I would try to open it up and try to give the teams at least 100 hours of available time for testing before their next official outing, that should give enough data and time to sort out most of the issues.

Lance Stroll should consider joining this league.

I was not holding big hopes and expectations for this race, but it is very impressive! I couldn't think that we'll see the race completed by a computer in 2024, I thought we'll see that in 2035 or so 😅

I'm sure that this will go quite a way in advancing autonomous driving. As someone who drives for a living, I hope development takes a while, but in the long run, autonomous driving will be very useful. Especially when it comes to interstellar exploration.

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do something! Racing is so much more than machines going around in circles, humans with all their imperfections and emotions are what fans come to see and connect with!

Wild wild event. Crazy they were able to pull this off without any crazy incidents. Great stuff on the technology side and programmers.

As a science tip, amazing. Awsome! a big step forward. Lot of work to do. As a spectacle, nothing to say about. nice cars. Hope the ticket may be free or very very cheap. As a sport: it is not a sport. it is just a competition. I would take the science part. Keep going.

The difficulty here is that F1 cars are much more complicated than their counterparts on public roads. What the anti-ackerman is worth, the uneven airflow behind the opponent and much more. The disadvantage is that the new algorithms will exhaust themselves very quickly (Micromouse) and we will get a perfectly cornering train of cars, but like the idea that since there are no pilots, then you can remove all the restrictions that were supposed to save their lives: controlled suspension, controlled anti-wing, etc. and once they will be different the characteristics of the machines, then the results will not be so clear.)

As someone who loves computers and technology, it was super interesting to see this. I was quite impressed by the cars' performace in the time trials. Just before watching this, I thought it was impossible to have autonomous race cars. The race was also interesting. Faults are a crucial part of science, learning is better when you make mistakes. As a teacher I know that for a fact. When these cars can run a full race with passes an incidents, I'll be glad to say I watched the first test race.

As much as there are people who laugh at this, what I see here is a totally new world of Motorsport with HUGE FUTURE POTENTIAL.

I know it’s the opening days and development and whatnot, but man, was that anticlimactic. Excited to see what the future has in store, though!

I'd love to see this car at street circuits- if it can go around Monaco without touching the barrier at decent pace- would be amazing.

A bit better results than the last Indy Autonomous Challenge I saw, but still alot of work to do before this is actually entertaining

For those idiots who do not stop criticizing this, you must understand that this is ONLY FIRST TEST of what could be a new era in motorsports, it is logical that they are not going to achieve anything the first day, probably in 20 years this will dethrone the entire reputation of formula 1. (that's just an opinion) but something will have to be in the probably distant future.

30 seconds of actual "racing"

Completely trusting AI is absurd. It would be better if the cars were driven by virtual racing professionals. Just like virtual racing, but with real cars controlled from a distance on real tracks. If they attract participants from virtual Ferrari, Red Bull, Williams, McLaren, Mercedes racing teams, I think it will be an interesting championship

Right now it's completely useless, but this has the potential for becoming the next big motorsport, because now without drivers the cars could have absolutely no safety requirements, so a lot less weight and probably no speed limitations, if all goes well I hope this cars are racing at 400 km/h in 15 years
