I'm on 60 mg rn and I don't tell a difference at all I dont know if it's cause it takes a while or not.

​@@heathersimpson3051 My psychiatrist told me, that 10 mg was only a trailer :D She said the daily dose have to be increased to 80 mg. December was a very long and rough month for me (and half of January). I've discovered almost every possible side effects in that time. I increased 10 to 20 to 40 to 80 mg. After every step I had some wierd days. But after the first day of 80 mg it took 2 weeks for my body to get acclimatized. I had dizziness, loss of appetite, dry mouth, tiredness, sweating but cold fingers, sometimes erectile disfunction. Now I feel only minimal side effects. Yes, it takes a while to work properly, sometimes it needs 2-3 months. Not just I feel but my coworkers see too that I became to new man. (My doc said if this drug is not working that means probably I have other contition, not ADHD)

I was prescribed this one and have been apprehensive to take it because I’ve read through forums on Reddit from folks saying they have ED, ejaculation issues, severe constipation, and issues pissing. My doctor has give the choice up to me as to whether I want a stimulant or non-stimulant. I opted for non as I thought there would be less side effects, but as a male getting older (35), I don’t want to be on something that might mask a serious prostate issue the older I get. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I feel alone in this journey. Thanks

I know right!!! I did NOT KNOW this. This is an insanely helpful piece of information. I wanna get off Strattera and try something else but I don't wanna take another 3 precious months to build up the dosage slowly in my system if I go back to it! I'll DEFINITELY learn more about these tests and see if I can get one done.

Several sources says it has not been peer reviewed and that there's not enough studies to prove it's reliable at all. I tried to look for that and all I got to are scammy-looking websites.

Update: I'm diagnosed and medicated. Also very lucky because the first medication seems to do the thing well

Note that sometimes you do infact want to take it on a holiday. You should really only consider not taking it whenever you know a day is going to be slow, or its not important enough to focus on. Holidays tend to be days you want to focus on such as a trip to the Grand Canyon and you don't want your memory and attention to it to be all messed up.

(another combined type dx here!) my doctor advised the same sort of thing! I used to take it on work days and miss it on weekends - but the holiday can be as long or short as you want, the longer the better the tolerance reset tends to be. additionally, it only occured to me after I started vyvanse that, oh gawd will I get a tolerance, will I get "cold turkey" side effects?!!" before realising that I regularly stopped my meds and had no issue :') idk if that's because ADHD brain uses ADHD meds differently to non ADHD brains, but... yeah, to end with the way my doctor put it, "your ADHD meds can be used 'on tap', like draught beer/cider":'D it was a way of putting it that really clicked for me hahah. having said that, I've seen plenty of people who take it daily and this is personal advise that my doctor said to me with regards to my own script!

My doctor mentioned this and told me the reason he never recommends it is because it is EXTREMELY expensive and no insurance covers it, plus it isn't super accurate to start with so you still have the trial and error but now you've had to travel to get the test done (uncommon testing) and you're broke haha.

@@jo-dm9tx not trying to be paranoid or conspiracy-like but... Maybe your doctor benefits financially from your continuous office visits and the percentage he gets from prescribing (and experimenting) several medications on you? I would at least get a second opinion on this generic testing from at least a couple more doctors to see if he’s right (or not).

It very much depends person to person! I recommend trying to see a doctor about it but researching it yourself can help give you clarity, this page helped me greatly

@@TinkerbellBayeeI could never finish the things I planned on time. I do everything at the last minute and procrastinate. If my exam date is not close, I cannot devote myself to studying, I find it very difficult to focus. These are the reasons why I think maybe I have ADHD. But I think this are so normal features among many students and not enough to say I have ADHD. Maybe I am just trying to find an excuse to my laziness.

@@monicarenee7949 It's been going great! It's a life changer for me, don't worry if you experience any side effects like sleepiness and headaches tho, its normal. But if you encounter anything unusual then I suggest u contact ur doctor. Medicine is a trial and error thing that takes time, and patience so u might not get the perfect medicine for you right away. I for one am getting higher doses every 2 months or so since I'm still not getting the desired effects but I am indeed still getting some progress

Late reply but I work in PGX testing for a particular company. You can ask your doc. It’s getting more popular but they’re not all equal. For example ours is clear with where we get our info from whereas genesight (a competitor) is not as clear. We also offer a free app to help patients and docs keep track of their responses.

But it’s so helpful as a lot of meds especially SSRIs have a high rate of not working due to genetics

Try vyvanse had similar symptoms with adderall plus robotic feeling and more anxious and fidget a lot, switched to vyvanse and made my anxiety go away, feel more confident and overal more like myself

The only thing thag worked for my adhd is ritalin. Sigh. 😢

@@evolveedith3996 It didn't hurt my stomach like adderall did, but I experienced another side effect I've heard can be common. It works for some people, but personally it made me extremely depressed and suicidal while not actually working that well. I'm on focalin now. Works super well, and while I do get some GI issues its way less than on adderall.

Hi! 33yo female that has finally found the right treatment for my ✌️ADD✌️. I've always known I've struggled with focus/attention, but it got to a point where it was really.. really impacting my job and that's what pushed me to seek & accept help. For the record, I have been clinically diagnosed with major depressive disorder, anxiety, and ADHD so none of this is speculation or self diagnoses. Since teenage years, depression was always an issue and tried several meds over the years, but nothing fully worked and I hated the idea of taking meds. All of those meds were SSRIs. Fast forward to the last year, I was in an exceptionally fragile mental state, but I found a good therapist and psychiatrist. We worked to get the depression and anxiety under control thru meds and therapy.. and as the typical treatment goes, presumably fixing the depression and anxiety will help the attention and focus. Wrong. Not for me. I was on lexapro, kept upping the dose but it wasn't quite working and after increasing the a couple times didn't do what we needed it to do, Buproprion was introduced. I noticed a tiny sliver of focus improvement and just what I describe as my brain "firing" better if that makes sense.. this told us we were now moving in the right direction. I decided to come off the lexapro because i was also having side effects and stay on the Buproprion.. eventually had to up the Buproprion to the max, but I was finally vshowing some signs of improved ADHD symptoms. It was working, just not good enough.. Enter adderall. Learning that NDRIs were working (not the SSRIs) I finally agreed to try Adderral. I'm so afraid of addiction cause it runs in my family, so I declined it for a while until we maxed out on the Buproprion. The first day, didn't notice anything. The second day, I was calm AND I was tired by evening and slept.. which I've always had bad sleep problems. I couldn't believe it. Now here we are months later. I take adderral xr and the buproprion and my brain is working. [happy years] I can focus so much better (granted it's not always perfect but that's ok), my memory for remembering important things has improved, moods improved. It's really been so helpful. It doesn't fix all of the issues all of the time, some days it works better than others (and based on this video I think the multivitamin I take WITH it, may be affecting efficacy). One big thing I've noticed is in my anxiety and depression.. a huge improvement. Because I'm able to be productive at work, I'm not stuck in the vicious cycle of being stressed and frustrated cause I can't focus/get anything done and then not being able to focus/get things done cause I'm so stressed and frustrated. If you know, you know. I don't take the adderral every day, only on work days (that's my personal preference in fear of addiction, and the doctor is ok with this schedule), but I do take the Buproprion daily. It seems to be the right concoction for me. Not at all saying this is the right mixture for any one else, just that it works for me. But also that there is hope and I believe there is a right treatment for everyone.. whether it's meds, therapy, or both. Both for me. Good luck on your journey!!!

And i will also say, ADHD is deeper than just the focus issues. I learned a lot of things I struggled with were actually ADHD issues. 🤯 There's not enough education and awareness on this... especially for women! I've always had an over achiever mentality so the ADHD went completely unnoticed, dismissed, and when focus issues were brought up to doctors over the years- rejected. Because I got good grades in my younger years of school, I could hold a job, I was rather "successful" by some opinions.. I wasn't taken seriously. At all. It was always credited to depression.. but we now know it was the ADHD. So, advocate for yourself! Find a good doctor, a good mental health professional, and get properly diagnosed and explore treatments that work for you. Before anyone comes at me for getting good grades and being an overachiever and says that it can't be ADHD.. Yes is possibly to be highly functioning and have ADHD. There were other factors as to why I "perfeformed" so well.. aka trauma responses to my life situations during those times. But that's a whole other issue of it's own. Anyways. I csnt stress this enough.. Advocate for yourself, find a doctor that will listen and take you seriously to find out what is really the diagnosis. I wish I would have many years ago.

@@odintalks Nope, I only take strattera currently. I have been prescribed it before i was diagnosed with adhd and had bad side effects.

You can up the dose until you do feel something from whatever you're taking. Otherwise if you're already at max dose, you're pretty much fucked in that regard. Gonna have to look to build external habits.

I love vyvanse, but please be incredibly careful with it, especially because you are a recovering addict. Vyvanse can become highly addictive. And theres a link between it and psychosis in the case of very long term use. But i hope it all works out for you, it changed my own life for the better.

microdosing shrooms. or things like NAC can help.

When i took my first dose abot an hour and a half later my complete reality changed. The world stopped vibrating. I stopped foot tapping and felt like I woke up from a dream. I started crying because the calm relief that washed over me was just so magnificent. I actually was able to go to a store and eat at a resteraunt. The immediate differance was real in me too

@@matthewjohnson1891 Yea, feels like all the noise around me has been quietted down. That best way for me to explain what adhd feels like is like having a group of people all yelling at me at once and trying understand and concentrate on 1 person out of the group with the lowest voice. With that being said, after about almost a year on the meds, i do sort of miss the chaos of my brain. It sometimes feels too quiet and worries me that im loosing my personality in the process. Ive been taking breaks from it lately because of that, will start taking it again once i feel overwhelmed by my thoughts.
